I like it but it seems to not be a 100% rollout yet as mine is still classic version.

They've been testing this on/off for a month or so. I've only seen it like this (OP screenshot) while running Chrome.

  This is the new Google Social network that is coming out.
  Some people have it already. However, some people need to sign up for it.
  
  It's called Google Plus. You might have to get invites.

I heard on the news about the google social network, didn't know you would need an invite.
