Google dance is the one kind of fluctuations in ranking position for the keyword, it happens often in the Google. According to me it might be not affect the SERP because sometimes keyword get their position back.

Google dance is just a general term for "new site bouncing around in Google like crazy"

Don't worry about it. Just keep building backlinks to it consistently. If you do this then Google will see your site is getting votes consistently and will rank your site accordingly.

Google Dance happens with the passage of time when you are placing links and your website's ranking are gonna better then Google's ranking fluctuates sometime down the order and sometime up to the order so after a while it stays at one position

    Hi Jesica

Yes as stated the google dance will have your site ranked in the search results at #3 page 1 one day then page 8 the next... the main thing to remember is that it is completely normal and nothing to panic about... the worst thing you could do is stop building good links to your site... just keep going - consistency is key - Good luck with your website!

      Hi all,
The name "Google Dance" is often used to describe the index update of the Google search engine. Google's index update occurs on average once per month. It can be identified by significant movement in search results and especially by Google's cache of all indexed pages reflecting the status of Google's last spidering. But the update does not proceed as a switch from one index to another at one point in time. In fact, it takes several days to complete the index update. During this period, the old and the new index alternate on google. At an early stage, the results from the new index occur sporadically. But later on, they appear more frequently. Google dances.

It used to. However, this phenomenon called Google Dance ceased to exist years ago. It is a single data push synchronizing all data from all DCs that makes rankings fluctuate.

Could you please elaborate about the Google Dance existence or lack of it?...

Since for the past two days I have seen one of my sites jumping all around google results and I thought that was the so called google dance. A bit of clarification would be very useful for me.

      Thanks in advance!

Google dance is watching my site (with over 100 pages of quality unique content and adding one or two everyday) go from low 100's down to mid 40's over a few weeks, then watch them all go to mid 100's in one day for five keywords I've been targeting. And waiting for the dance to end ... hopefully (it did before).

Google Dance happens when you build links too fast to brand new sites with no trust rank.

Hit new sites with lots of backlinks = Google dance.
Hit established old sites with lots of backlinks = No problem.

      Hi Jessica,

Nice to meet a homonym on warrior.

Google dance is the fluctuation in the keyword ranking.

Yes, it affects SERP and also the bid for a particular keyword. However, I suggest you not to be much worried about that. If you have a website you always have to work hard for its SERP, even though you are at the top you have to work for consistent results.

I think it will help you.
      Have a nice day Jesica.

Google Dance is nothing but when Google rebuilds its SERPs and PRs after a period of time. You need not worry and concentrate on building quality links for website so that it can counter the affects.

Google Dance often happens with new websites as Google boosts the new websites in their rankings for long term low competitive keywords. But these are for a short term only most of them for 24-48 hrs and then they lost their current positions and are pushed back.
With a little patience and right seo strategy you can come over the Google dance.
