I am looking for a link building tool to help me with these efforts. Can anyone recommend one? I have seen some free ones and some you have to pay for.

All the available tools and software, including Senuke, Xgenseo etc. disappoint.

They all come with the promise they build links "automatically"...truth is, NONE of those software work perfect, they do stupid things, get stuck, freeze, have troubles signing up etc. I think in the months i used many of those programs i HARDLY had one successful run from start to finish. Worse, sometimes the tools sit there for hours and hours stuck...you come back in the morning thinking you just finished a great link building campaign, just to see that its still sitting on ONE screen trying to submit for the last 8 hours.

For my link building, i hardly use those (so called) automatic software(s) anymore but mainly use blog networks, much better.

Thanks everyone for the info. Let me take a moment to be more specific and perhaps get a more accurate recommendation. Sorry, should have done that first.

I am new to this and am just a business owner, not an seo company. I just want to rank high for a local keyword and have learned a little about seo. It would seem that it wouldn't be that hard to do it since it is not hugely competitive. I have optimized my page content, title and description tags.

I am thinking at this point that I just need some good quality links and want to do that first before I invest a lot of time in article writing, link wheels, etc. I don't mind building them myself but I don't want to spend hours every day sifting through blogs and other places trying to find links.

I would like a tool where I could enter my niche and it would direct me where to find high quality and related links. If it builds the links for me, then great. If it does other things like article posting, then great but I also don't want to do anything that will get my site penalized or would be considered questionable or black hat.

I have been using Spyglass but the free trial version. I like it but it won't let me cut and paste the link urls without paying for the upgrade. I have to type them in manually and it is a pain. It is $95 to upgrade and I don't want to spend the money if there is a better tool out there.

I also wouldn't object to purchasing a high quality link list in order to save time if it was from a reputable person that someone has had success with.

        Any recommendation would be appreciated.

You don't need any link building tools to rank for most local keywords... (particularly if you have an exact match domain name).

In any event, have someone write a few articles at Fiverr (or here on the Warrior Forum). Submit one or two of these to EzineArticles.com. With the 3rd article, simply have someone mass submit it to article directories.

Each of these articles need to have your target keyword phrase in the resource box.

This would probably good enough for link building provided you have proper on-page SEO.

If you're still struggling with rankings, then simply have someone write a press release for your company... then distribute it using PR.com and/or PRweb.com.

          /Steven

I *do* use AMR actually, it's pretty good.

Scrapebox...not anymore really. Comment links....there is better stuff around than spamming blogs with comments. That's not link building, that's a waste of time.

Scrapebox is so much more than that. Anyone that uses it only for its auto-posting feature is missing out. I agree that spamming comments is a waste of time. Scrapebox can do a lot more than that though.

Scrapebox. But not in the way that most people use it. I use it to harvest dofollow / PR1+ blog posts that I comment on manually. After a few days I usually have a pretty solid list of sources.

You must go for Scrapebox and the find some good tutorials how to use it. Use the scrape functions, find high pr blogs in your niche and better to post manually on them to get quality links.I hope it will helps

    Automatic Tools are big pain.

Like a lot of others I use scrapebox more for scraping than auto-posting. Best money I've ever spent for this kind of stuff.

I also have AMR, pretty big fan of that as well.

I use Build My Rank also and get good results. It all comes down to knowing what your link building strategy is and figuring out where you want to spend your time and money.

At various times I've had VAs doing forum posting/blog commenting.

    Link Diagnosis
Link Diagnosis is an excellent tool for link profile quick scans. It uses Yahoo! to find links that point to a website, accumulates relevant information about these links and pages, and tries to filter out duplicate and low-quality links.
The output is easy to understand. One table shows you all links Link Diagnosis has analyzed, two others list the most important pages and the most popular anchors. You can also export all the data to csv, or create charts of the link types and PageRank distribution to your site.
Link Diagnosis also offers the ability to save reports, which requires a login. The Firefox plugin makes performing quick scans even more easy, as it only requires a single right-click to start the analysis engine when you have the plugin installed.

I use senukex and it works great for me. I think you should check it out for 14 days for free. Its completely hands free. But you should keep in mind it is just a tool. It works as you tell it to work.

Some other tools working good for me:

    AMR
    Build my Rank
    MAN

    Hope It helps

I agreed. Automated software tends to automate create accounts and posting links, but they don't own those sites, that's the biggest problem...

I have more luck with blog networks & my own profile link tool, they formed my main backlink strategy.

This couldn't be farther from the truth.

      Work smarter not harder.

There are great tools and services out there to build amazing backlinks. Heck - even if your gonna do it "manually" you can atleast outsource to work. I'm sure your time is worth more than building links by hand.

Here's what I would recommend you do: go to Alexa and type in your domain. See what sites are linking to yours. This will give you an idea of where to focus your traffic efforts. Look for similar sites.

What I found when I did this is that when I posted comments on do follow blogs, I got great results.

Comment Kahuna is a great software to use to help you find places to blog. You'll need a Windows emulator for your computer, but you can get them for free.

Find 5 - 10 blogs per day and post comments. Be thoughtful. Won't take you that long, and you'll see really good results. Simple is best, and doing it the right way is what will last.

One of the major problems in using backlinking software is that it only give you numbers of links. But when it comes to the quality of those links, it's completely doubtful.

According to webmaster guidelines, harvesting links from crappy sites will choke and might hurt your site. But it doesn't mean that using these software does no good. Just use it moderately.
