Have the Rules Changed for Micro Niche Sites?

I've decided to create a couple micro niche sites a week until I get my income where I need it.

I just checked the first site I created under this plan (I do have other sites) and see it's been indexed. The domain is a .org and it's an exact match domain. Like I said, it was created Monday & Tuesday and it is indexed, but it is nowhere to be found. Am I too impatient? I don't expect it to be on page 1 today, but it's not in the top 500. Is that normal.

My domain is a 4 word domain with each word separated by a hyphen (it was all I could get)

And, are we penalized if we only pay for a year on the domain?

    Did you build any backlinks to it? Yes I think you're being impatient, it's only a few days. And no, why would you get penalized by paying one year.

    You gotta be more patient. It will really help if you can create some high quality backlinks.

    Even for micro-niche websites, you could take up to a month or two to rank well. That being said, if it's a keyword with only 30,000 competing pages, you could probably rank well within 2 weeks if you do some quality daily link building.

    I'd say do some good link building. If you still need to rank, do more (or better) link building. Get a schedule that you follow every week day, where you create at least 3 article links, 5 social bookmarking links, 3 press release links, etc.

      Number of competing pages doesn't matter at all. I have ranked sites in the top 5 with 2 million competing pages in under a week.

    OP, get a few higher PR backlinks PR5+, it won't take very many to at least get your site to show in the SERPs for your keyword.

    Make sure the PR is on the exact same page that your new backlinks will be on. Use keyword anchor-text for the backlinks.

    Don't mess with profiles or thousands of low PR backlinks, they will only make your new site bounce around the SERPs more.

    I agree with the others - now that you're site is indexed, start building high quality, high PR backlinks consistently. Try to develop a solid backlinking plan, rather than just throwing a ton of links at it. Also, make sure you mix things up and diversify your backlink profile as well.

    It's going to take some time to get your site climbing the SERP's, but as long as you're patient and stick with it, you'll get there.

    As for your domain being penalized for paying yearly, there is no penalty for anything like that. Not sure where you may have heard that.

    No penalty for only paying for a year. I have heard that but I have never seen anything that said there was definitely a drop if the way that you are ranked because of it. Give your site some time, and build your backlinks at a good consistent rate and you will see the results.

      Thanks for the help. I guess building it and leaving it probably won't be good enough.

      I didn't think paying for just one year was a problem. I assume it's the3 way everyone tests a domain. Some have said google sees that as a spam domain and that you're not serious if you only pay for a year. But like I said, I think that's the way everybody does it. I doubt someone would pay for 5 years, or even 2 without knowing for sure they're gonna make money on it.

    its the hyphens on your domain. once you start building backlinks the site will show up. the exact match effect is does not get a quick benefit if you use hyphens.

    Does it really make a difference if your domain name has been around for awhile vs. a new domain name?
