Amazon Book Cover Images and SEO Value

We all know that the Google spiders can't really read images. They can only read images if those images are tagged with text.

But does this apply to those images of book covers that you see on Amazon? You know, the one where you click on the title of Stephen King's latest book and there is picture of the book on the left side of the page.

Will the spiders be able to crawl and read those?

On amazon, some is done with flash. The ones that aren't don't normally
have keywords in the image url. It's all for easy internal linking from databases.
They will put alt text, and name some general images appropriately.

Your best bet is to host them on your server, name them appropriately,
then put alt text in there as well. Search engine(s?) could read that.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.
