I noticed that my website dropped from page 2, result 9 to page 3, result 5, or basically from rank #19 to #25 in the SERPs. Did anyone else experience something similar this weekend?

My site actually gained 4 places. I did lose some ground on other secondary keywords though. Was there any new update done by google this weekend?.

It is likely just a generic Google dance, the search results will likely settle out, and not be drastically different.

Rankings? No. Traffic? Yes. But that's to be expected this weekend.

What you're probably experiencing is the typical Google dance.

He probably meant less traffic over the holidays. People are busy doing things other than being online.

I don't know anything about that but I do know they made some changes such as taking out the WonderWheel which I really liked.

Also, I notice several new things on their site also.

Same thing mate. I was doing fine and then google did the usual. From page one last position to page 3 top position and now it seats page 3 bottom.

I'm pretty much a newb. Is there anyway to help minimize the impact of the "google dance" on your site? Does having more quality backlinks help at all or it it pretty much fair game for everyone?

If only I knew answer to that one. =)

My site is about 4-5 month old and has Page Rank 1 unique content, seo optimized and I'm doing a lot of article marketing and pinging my backlinks, so far I see it's been effective but I would not say very effective. I already have more back links that my competitor and very consistent in building my back links, I will continue on doing that and see if in 3 month situation improves. I do not think there is an easy way to this unless you have no competition.

I got my butt kicked! I had quite a few very well ranked pages (lots of them were in the top 5 results for the keyword) ... some are completely off the charts while the rest are page 3.4,5+
