  • Hi Jenny, you should probably make sure you didn't click that ad yourself while you were editing the website. If Google detects a fraud click, they could penalize you for it. Try installing a statistics counter to track the people coming to your site.

    • i had a guess where it came from and turns out i was right. a friend from a small private group on facebook deduced my url from my conversations and went to take a look at it. she has tons of problems with the issue my site focuses on so it was actually a valid ad click haha! Yay! that's sweet, because it gives me some idea what i'm looking at- IF i can get rank.

Question though- if someone gets to the site from direct entry of the url instead of the search engine, even if they are 7 states away lol- can that get me in trouble for suspect clicks? i asked her (and the rest of the group) not to do that anymore because i don't want trouble.

i do have a stats tracker plugin for wordpress, why did i not think to go look there yet *slaps forehead* so new.. i'm so new.. hehehe

ps your name / pic combo cracks me up!

    • I've only just begun to look into selling articles- I didn't think it was something i could do very well before. I've been using Instant Article Wizard to write my articles, but I've been using it only to pull research, and writing it up myself. I can't stand all the garbage I see on the web where people are "spinning" lol.

It turns out I can write fairly well- now whether it's submittable for money - that's the next experiment. I won't know til I try! I sure need the cash coming in to keep on and build the next site when this is done.

but i still don't know really how these sites work- are these original unposted articles, or articles tied to my web page? At any rate I have some resarch to do on THAT subject.. After I write my last few page articles. Half a site is not good enough LOL

Thank you all for the advice and encouragement! (And I promise, i will be Very Careful about clicking my own links!)
  • Congrats Jenny, I remember when I got first Adsense click... it was just under a dollar and I was ecstatic... it definitely felt like I hit the jackpot. In fact, logging into my Adsense a/c back then was like viewing a casino slot machine... the credits just increased without depositing any money

From your replies to the other posters I can gather you are a newbie... you might want to start learning about the various traffic generation techniques as well as search engine optimization (SEO).

Diversifying your traffic sources and getting as much of it as possible is the key to earning a living with Adsense. Look to maximize your income from your site that you have just built and use this first site of yours as a training ground. Once you've grasped all the concepts, you are more confident and you understand what works and what doesn't - you can move on to building more sites.

    • I am definitely a newbie. Which are a dime a dozen except I have one thing most newbies don't seem to, from what I read.. well two. Intense Motivation and Follow Through.

I am trying to learn all I can but sometimes it's hard to know where to look. Not for lack of information- but because there's too MUCH information. and not all of it good.

so many techniques, so many angles..

but hey, i LOVE that. been a while since i had anything to conquer.

i've been signing up for social networking sites and gathering them under ping.fm / hootsuite. i haven't set up any autocontent yet. i'm trying to figure out HOW that works. (autocontent to my site / quality control / autoposting through these networks.) i get the concept of automatically posting to all the social sites at once- and the concept of building backlinks that way but not really the specifics yet. Must figure that out asap! sites like tumblr are a mystery to me. i'm not sure how that site works LOL. it just seems like there are so many things to learn at once *chuckle*

plus i'm still writing articles. stay at home mom with 3 kids out of school, one of which is only 2 so he's a major time hog lol. but each article i write gets better and better, never an issue with copyscape, passing my wordpress SEO plugin with flying colors now.. i think i'm improving

sometimes i wish i could afford an education in this LOL! i'm kind of going at the learning sideways - i started with a program to help me get my site up, show me what it's using.. then i will learn what the plugins and tactics are as i set them up / use them. investigate as the site builds steam (hopefully). because to be honest, i didn't even have the foggiest where to start.

i just keep reminding myself that this training program is just ONE way. and it's far from complete. but my first goal is to make $5 a day doing it This way, then branch out. i figure, by then, i should have a good handle on the method i've chosen to start with.

the only bad thing about being a newbie is sticking my foot in my mouth almost every time i post hahaha

      thanks again for the encouragement!
  • Not all clicks will be that good ... some will be more

    • LOL i sure as heck hope so... my first goal is to make my husbands car payment every month. i don't know how long that will take ($10 a day) since i'm so dang new, but i'm going to try my darnedest to get there and go way beyond!
