My SEO Strategy.. will it work?

Basically I've planned out an SEO strategy that I plan to do, some critique needed please!

Tier 1
1. Create one page blogs (Livejournal, Blogspot, Wordpress, Tumblr) with a 500-600 word article linking to my site
2. Create Web 2.0 properties (Squidoo, Hubpages) and link to my site
3. Submit articles to high PR article directories and link to my site
4. Make occasional high quality backlinks

Tier 2
1. Social bookmark everything in tier 1
2. Drip feed 100 profile/blog comment backlinks a day to tier 1 sites

Will this be effective for a site ranking in a keyword with about 2,000,000 competition?

Impossible to tell without knowing the competition. Don't get caught up in how many competing pages there are. It just doesn't matter. The only pages that matter are on page 1. That's your competition.

If you have a keyword with little competition then it's probably fine. If it's high competition then it's no where near enough.

your strategy in my opinion is pretty good
but you can't judge your competition by a number...

even if your competition isn't 2,000,000, lets say it is 10,000 and your trying to rank for the word "MacDonald's. That isn't going to be easy!

You got to judge your competition on the people who are ranking on the first page, their your competition!!!

The 2million number is how many webpages are trying to rank and in my opinion is meaningless.

      Good Luck,
      Brendan

Good strategies but don't forget to include forums and social networking for traffic purposes.

Thanks guys! Competition isn't very tough. I'd say medium competition - but competition aside, would it be an effective all-around strategy?

If someone offer that as a plan. I will be asking how much time and money it will cost. The plan is not detail enough, and you will likely to fail if it is not detail enough because you will unlikely to do it.

Tier 1. Will you Create one page blogs dailly or monthly, or just once? high PR article directories. What is a high PR article directory? how many of them? Make occasional high quality backlinks. How occasional?

      Thanks for the input!

      1. Just one page blogs, once - similar to this

      2. High PR article directories, like eZineArticles and GoArticles and Buzzle, about 5-6 of them.

      3. Once every.. two weeks maybe?

On the whole, it's a pretty good strategy.

The only thing that's missing is making sure your backlinks count. To give the best possible chance of them being indexed and counted, you should create RSS feeds of your links and ping them.

Linklicious.me is a good service (has a free option) that creates RSS feeds from your links and pings them for you. Highly recommended.

Yes, I follow this method, a tree structure of building links. You can social bookmark these links as they get indexed in low traffic websites. Bookmarking the inner pages of the main website also helps you to get traffic.

  • Any type of SEO will work in the long run if you give it enough time. As long as you get indexed links coming back to your site that are found by google, have your keyword in their anchor text and are from a variety of sources, you should be good to go. It's just a question of how long this will take.

Regardless on the level of competition, I think that will work. But I suggest you not to stick with those strategies only. Remember that getting links from different sources has something to do with good SERP ranking.

yeah, the question is time - 3 months is reasonable for this kind of strategy. And also: how many tier 1s is enough? 5? 10? 15? Generally though this strategy does work, but it takes real patience and persistence.
