Still getting Google first page ranking for keywords in my niche with solid original content and good SEO. (I know yawn...boring - but it works).

I tried on a couple of new sites too just to be sure it was still working and not unique to my URLs with longevity. So far so good!

I did stop submitting my new articles to the article directories as it didn't seem to drive as much traffic after the changes. Plus I want to keep the benefits of unique content posting to my site alone.

Well unique content is an obvious one. "good SEO" means nothing. SEO is such a broad term, and you didn't even say link building, you said "SEO". Please elaborate more.

This video has some pretty good tips about post-panda seo and what it's going to take to be competitive in the new Google. It looks like all of us who do seo have a steep mountain to climb ahead of us.

    • Focus on providing the reader with quality content. Pretend you are visiting your site, would you want to actually read what is there?

The the rest is the same as before. Quality SEO, both on-page and off-page. Get high PR links to your site with your keywords in the anchor text. People think SEO is hard, but that's really all you need to do.

First 4 pages really doesn't mean anything. It is all about being on the first page.

Really it is about diversification. That means articles, web 2.0s, profiles, blog comments, etc. The more contextual links from authority websites you can get the better.

It's been the same throughout pretty much every update. Do the following and you'll be fine:

    1. Research your target keywords and ensure that you can make it to page 1. Analyze the top 10 results and see if you can bypass them. (Are their backlinks weak? Is their on-page SEO an afterthought? Are they massive authority sites that have been around for years? etc..)

    2. Create your content and make sure it's 100% unique and properly optimized for your keywords. Have your main keywords in your URL if possible, in addition to standard on-page SEO.

    3. Get as many high quality backlinks as possible from as many different sources as possible. Remember when you were analyzing your competition? I bet there's a ton of sources right there that you could use. So that's a good way to get started.

Quality and original content (especially within the same domain) are important. Just stick to the basics and don't try to game the system too much. You'll do fine.

      This.

It really isn't too tough or over-complicated until you start looking for ways to "beat" the system.

Article submissions are still useful in my opinion IF you write really great articles. 1 well-written article can be picked up and syndicated by dozens of relevant sites and could launch you into #1 (depending on the size/competition) of your niche without ANY backlink diversification at all.

Plain and simple, build great content that has linkbait and viral potential.

Basically just build content that, if you were a blogger you would link to, if you were a twitter user you would bother tweeting about, or if you're a FB addict that you would post on your wall.

Build a site with users in mind. Provide valuable information, it will be ideal if you or you can find someone who is an expert. Make the site into something of an authority. I was searching the net and came across:

      https://my.money.co.uk/

Something like that is quality and most of the time, will be favoured by Google.

Just do what Google recommends to do and do a bit of backlinking and you can ensure your results will last for a long time. Check out this PDF released by Google themselves:

(sorry forum wont let me post a complete link even though it is a constructive one :< ) remove spaces from link

    http : // static.googleusercontent.com/external_content/untrusted_dlcp/ www . google.com/en//webmasters/docs/ search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf

Its a pretty nice reference. You could spend your time doing Black hat SEO techniques but really what's the point? One Google figures out a system to eradicate them such as they did to duplicate content and profile links then your hard work you have put in on black hat SEO will count for a lot less.

I am sure that article submissions still improves the performance of website in search results.

I did article submissions to one of my website.
I asked one article writer to write an article based on following specifications
1)In Title of the article keyword need to be used
    2)In summary we used keyword
3)Article Body consists of 2% keywor density
4)In author resourse we used 2 keywords as anchor text.

Then i spinned the article into 50 different versions.

Then i submitted them to 640 different article directories.

After one week i saw improvement in rankings.

So, I feel article submissions still work for rankings.

I've heard that the bounce rate is more important for your page, and back links, so mainly quality, unique content and back links.
