My staff have been creating quite a lot of these types of backlinks. None of them are showing up when using yahoo explorer, google webmasters and other software I use.

Do you guys experience this as well?

Are you indexing the links? I haven't noticed the same issue. but Profile links are hard to rely on!

    • Out of all the link variations, I think profile links have suffered the most. I rarely build them anymore, only a few to make it look natural. Forum links are still good, and obviously the more relevant the better.

Of course, are you or anyone in your staff making sure that Google can even see the links in the first place?

Far too often forums noindex or unlink their user/member list and profile pages. Which means that Google won't even be allowed to index those pages. This helps prevent spam since most spammers wont spend time on forums in which Google/search engines can't see in the first place.

The same goes for forum posting. Is it a private or public forum?

I am not fan of profile links anymore, but forum signature links are still valuable because I can get targeted traffic. I would suggest invest your time in other link building ventures and avoid using profile links.

You are looking at the wrong place to see if your links are actually working. Stop worrying about what these third party backlinks crawlers are showing and focus on results in the search engines that matter.

If you are seeing positve results then the links are probably working; if however YSE or similar are showing a heap of links but your site isn't moving, are those links actually any good??

        This.

Thousands upon thousands of backlinks aren't worth much if they're not producing results.

Go to Bulkping.com create a RSS of profile links and ping them.

Also when you create profile links try to link those profiles with link wheel.

I wouldn't even bother to build profile links to be honest, they've been devalued so much after Panda it's almost pointless.

Might be good as 2nd-tier links but indexing them is just a waste of time.

I agree with this. If Google has not completely devalued them yet, it is not far off.

I have also seen drops in my ranking even with alot of profile links/linkwheels. So I guess profile links are losing their effectiveness.

Forum posting is a good way to create backlinks and gain traffic and for the profile links I found it helpful as well in backlink creation but not much in traffic.

Yes and NO. Usually people just place a link in the signature, this has became obsolete method... they won't get pick up any more.

However, if you put like 50 highly spin text in the profile signature, and place your link between those content, you'll get very fast index rate, I hit over 60% index rate in just 4 days! See my case study here: http://www.seospeedsight.com/seoforu...nd-case-study/

Forum profiles will almost never be found. Thats why pinging services like linklicious.me exist.

Just put your links in linklicious and let it worry about pinging them..it will be automated...so you just put them in and forget about them, then start building more links.

Linklicious will get them crawled and getting them crawled will boost your SERPS..stop worrying about getting them indexed...that will happen naturally for a lot of them but shouldn't be your focus.

Your wasting your time worrying about something you cant even get an accurate answer on and that isn't needed to increase your SERPS. Indexing HELPS your SERPS..it isn't required...worry about things that are required like "Getting your links crawled" and things that get you money – your search results!
