Well it depends upon your content and link building. But try to go for .net .com . org domains as they perceive higher value to people

you have the option to choose other options for that keyword. If you use a "the" or something similar will not be notice. However you will make SEO and you target the keyword which you want. So, buy a .com.

dot infos are the same for SEO as anything else. Period. Case closed. Next case.

Anyone who says otherwise is a domain reseller. They are the only ones who give a rat's hat.

If they are not a domain reselller, and they still dis a dot info, run from that person if they are trying to give you advice. They obviously lack real knowledge.

Feelings have nothing to do with SEO.

            This.

But for whatever reason, most people avoid .info domains like the plague. That's fine though. It leaves more for me.

I wouldn’t say so or at least I have not noticed that. The reason people don’t always choose .info is that .info is most appropriate for informational website and if you build a site for eCommerce or for videos or anything else then .com would be better as it’s application is wider. Of course some people might be sceptical about .info as they have read some misguided information that it might not rank as well as something else but I have not noticed that much anymore either.

.infos won't rank well as an exact match domain with no backlinking. I've done extensive testing on this. But they will rank well with lots of backlinking just like any other.

In terms of ranking, they are equal to .com domains. However, if you're planning to sell the domain down the road, definitely go with a .com because it has more perceived value and it is easier to sell.

If the .com is taken, just add the letter "v" or "x" to the end of your keyword domain. Google will ignore it, and you will still get the benefit of having a kw domain that is .com. Hope that helps.

That's what makes domain (re)sellers rich. They go on fantasies.
And snooker a lot of people.

Why would you open up a site, do a lot of hard work, thinking you
are just going to sell the domain later? Makes no sense. If you
are selling the site, then where the site ranks and how much money
it makes are what matters. Not the domain name.

Your "just like any other" makes no sense in the context of that statement. But thank
you for doing extensive testing... Earth awaits your return.

I think that by now everybody has realized that domain extension do not affect rankings and .info will rank equally well as .com or .org and so on. In threads like this there are always some people who mention that they have done some extension study into this but when asked then they don’t have much to say about it. I have not done any studies but I do use .info domain and it ranks really well and that is all I need to know and to be honest I can not even think of any logical reason why there should be difference in ranking.

As far as the reselling the domain is concerned then yes, .com tends to get higher price than other domain extensions but if your aim is not to sell the domain but build the site then it does not make much difference. Also, as .info has become quite popular lately and the extension is growing quite fast then some good keywords that are especially suitable for .info extension can fetch you quite a good price. If you go over to Sedo or look at any domaining forums you will noticed that .info’s are selling for quite a good price. I think it is better for you to get good .info than bad .com as adding lot of hyphens and letters at the end of the domain just to get .com is not as good investment as getting a nice clean keyword for .info if it is still available.

Paul is right, .info will work just fine. The only reason for buying a .com over anything else is if you might want to sell it as at that time a .com is perceived to have higher value. But as far as SEO is concerned, Google doesn't give a rat's pertuttie.

I have no problem with .info...

Interestingly, talking to people who don't know anything about domains, they think that .org is only legal if it is a non-profit, .info is only legal if it doesn't sell something, etc....they have really warped views of things

I've had similar conversations with people with very interesting and far-out viewpoints/beliefs regarding domains.

But yes, to reverberate, domain extensions don't make a difference for SEO purposes. As Paul said, case closed.

It does not make any difference for Google. Google sees SEO on site, backlinks and other things. Google does not care if it is .com or .info

.info ranks very well if you know your seo on and off site. Done many times over, I have a .info that is ranking for 3 different kw's on page one and is only few month old. So .info works simple.

.com, .net, .org and .info are all percieved by the search engines as equal. the only difference they make is what people value, personally i dislike .info's as i feel the webmaster is being "cheap" as .info's as cheaper..
