Hi guys, I just got a report back from a fiver .edu backlink gig.

The links are there, blog comments, but so are around 2000 others, on average.

Does this matter? I know it's best to have your comments near that top... I'm not 100% on the details of this... but, will I get any value from these backlinks?

Cheers.

  • OBL (outbound links) are important when looking at whether the link is good or bad and if there are 1000's of other links on this page then imo the link is worthless as the page has already been spammed 1000's of times and google will not take much notice of the links from that page.

Your link has probably been submitted to loads of auto approve pages which have been spammed to death.

Next time you order blog commenting be sure to ask what their limit is on OBL.

Leave some feedback telling other users about the quality of the links and that they are useless so others dont make the same mistake.

I will not waste my time commenting there. As far as I know when the number of Outbound links from a page increases, the amount of link juice that you can get from your comment decreases. Since that page already have thousands of comments I don't think that you are going to get any benefit by commenting there. Also there are chances that Google may already be suspicious on that page.

Outstanding advice. I've been doing a little research on backlink outsourcing. From what I gather, even if a person is willing to invest money in top of the line backlinking software, it still takes time - and time = money. So, outsourcing is the best way forward for most of us.

That being said - a lot of the folks running backlinking services are just spamming the same pages over and over again. The tough part is finding a decent service.

      Any recommendations?

1000 is a very big number and I will not suggest you to move with such pathetic quality again. Because if there are 1000 links then linkjuice will be divided between 1000 links and if there are 50-70 links then you can imagine which one is better.

Chances of bad neighborhood are higher in blogs having high number of outbound links.

    Thanks

Just found one that has over 10,000!

What do you mean by this? Chances of bad neighborhood are higher in blogs having high number of outbound links.

Could this gig actually hurt my site?

Bad neighborhood means links pointing to porn, warez or sites penalized by Google.

It can hurt and it cannot because Google consider factors of bad neighborhood, but before penalizing it considers that this submission may be done by any of your competitor. But if you continue to build links on spam sites then it will definitely hurt your site.

          Wrong.

Bad neighbourhood rules applies from the site you are getting your link from.

Id admit I wont want a link on a page which has many outbound links to viagra sites etc, but have seen competitors that have and that do rank!

I don't comments on blogs that have more than 30 comments unless the blog has a very high authority like seobythesea, and other top blogs where comments are highly moderated.

Commenting on blogs that have more than 50 comments unmoderated is a waste of time imo.

Google most likely has a limit to how many links it will crawl and spider per page. Some say the limit is 100 links, it may be a little higher....But is sure isn't as high as 1000 links per page (under most circumstnces).
