Here is a link building strategy I have been doing last month and I see limited results.

RSS & WEB 2.0 > Articles > Money site (High Quality content)

In general it works but now I'm after 80K search with competition 3.5M
And I do not see it being effective or at least fast. What link building strategies you guys use that works?

    Have you checked to see if the links you're creating are dofollow?

    I use a very similar strategy which has landed me great results on a VERY competitive two-word short tail keyword, so I think that works, but there is more to a strategy's success than simply which one you pick. Executing it the best, most efficient way is crucial.

      Total searches and search results have nothing to do with the competition you're facing. You need to check out the top 10 (that's all that matters) and see how difficult the keyword is to rank for. You can download an app called traffic travis (the free version is fine) and it will check this for you.

      Your strategy is not going to work well if it's a difficult keyword at all. All of the links you're getting are fine, but they are going to have very little link juice.

      You need to focus on getting links on high PR PAGES, high PR domains don't matter a whole lot.

      Some good ways to do this are through blog commenting, guest posting on other sites in your niche, or buying links.

    Above poster is dead on. But i also wanted to make mention to your linking method, why not have web2.0s aimed directly to your money site?

    This would be a stronger system.

    blog comments+ articles + profiles etc** ->> web 2.0s(unique content/keyword targeted) + social media ->> money site (high quality unique content)

    **Create RSS feeds to all of these active links, start a 2nd tier linking to these feeds**

    That will give a lot more juice to you, quickly and with content syndication on the links.

      It does sound like a good option but I do not want lenses and web 2.0 rank higher than my original money site. I am currently looking to the automatic forum posting but I do not want them to link directly to my money site. My theory is if I have enough ****ty links pointing to articles then in 3 month time google will have to give them at least PR 1 to those pages which in turn should increase my PR for money site.

        If you're going to use the web 2.0/profile/etc, here's how I'd do it...

        Web 2.0 -> Money site

        Article Directories -> Money site

        Social Bookmarks -> Money site

        profile links -> 50% to web 2.0, article directories, social bookmarks - 50% money site

        Personally I think profile links are worthless, but I know lots of people like em. I'm just a fan of building links to my sites, not other properties, so I generally point most of my links to my site.

        The only reason I link my links is to get them indexed.

    Have a look at Traffic Travis as Packerfan suggests. This will give you two sets of information;

    1. It shows you the type of links the people ahead of you have - you might be surprised at how few links some of them have, but how good the quality of those links is.

    2. It shows you the quality of the onsite SEO of these sites

    This is after all a competition, so you need to know what to aim for. Remember that no search engine reveals all the links that they have for your site.

    (In fact if you use some article submission companies you'll be lucky to have even a quarter of the articles that are submitted indexed. So don't think that just because you have submitted your article/post to 1500 sites that that is 3000 links.)

    Stick to submitting quality content and having your links coming into your site from quality pages, blogs, forums that are also relevant to your site.

      1. Yes I'll have a look at my competition in more details.
      2. My articles gets 90% indexed because I create web 2.0 and backlinks to my articles

    Don't get too caught up in the "perfect strategy." Because there isn't one. Note that all these link-building methods are really trying to mimic, on a grand scale, what would happen if your website was really KICK ASS.

    Like CNN traffic and content-wise.

    Other sites link to them a) because they have tons of useful content and b) because they have tons of traffic.

    May be other reasons, but a) is number one. You cannot create that volume of quantity content alone. So we all try to mimic getting links from all over the place.

    Which is GREAT. But make sure that you don't follow a cookie cutter approach. Develop a variety of link-building processes and maybe throw those processes into a link-building system. Just make sure your links have no pattern.

    Even if Google never spots the pattern, it's just got to be better than finding "that perfect one," that becomes less than perfect when something better comes along

    Plus, by trying a variety of approaches, you will have developed some tried-and-true methods (that you have tested in the field); all of these are to be put in your "IM Toolbox" to be used over and over again.

    Holistic approaches work best in nature and that's what we're really trying to mimic in our little IM world.

      Well said...

      Trial and error always the best, I do try different methods they all work but not as good as I hoped or at least they take time. I'm sure there are people out there who got their workflow sorted and something tells me that no one is going to share =)

    I actually have been using a decent strategy as of late.

    I'm a real believer in creating a big link pryamid to really get the link juice flowing, ao I go out and build HUNDREDS of links to backlink my tier 1 backlinks. First of all this is far safer than throwing loads of links all at once straight to your money site, and if you are a fiercly backlinking web 2.0 properties google is far less likely to notice as these domains gets thousands of backlinks each day.

    This strategy has really been working well as of late.

      Hi Jonathan,
      Thanks for sharing, would you mind telling us about you competition? How many exact searches a month and number of pages for the keyword. Would be also interesting to find out if it's a long tailed keyword or not.

      Thanks again.

    I am a member of a company calledTribe Pro. Once a member you will want to build up a following of other members who will agree to share your content if you share theirs. This can be a very powerful technique as most of the syndication can be done on autopilot. There are 2 options the free option means you have to manually go in and syndicate yours and other content,where as the paid option can be set up to work on auto pilot.When implemented consistently will give you the vital back links you need to get your content ranked highly on the search engines. all the best

    Try article submitting and guest posts on those PR5 or higher websites. Backlinks from high PageRank pages not only will bring you link juice, but also can bring you good traffic.
