What is your opinion on using "-" in domain names, I read so much about it and still can't truly understand if it's damaging the Domain URL or not a problem.

Google will still be able to find your keyword even if it has the hypens and its fine. But if you want a domain that is catchy, easy to remember than go for no hypen domains.

I've actually read that it is beneficial to use a "-" over not using one. For example, "pool-supplies.com" is better than "poolsupplies.com".

Hyphens are helpful to nail down words. If you have a string of
words, no hyphens, you leave it up to a search engine to figure
it out. Sometimes with unintended consequences.

It is awkward to see and type a domain with words that end
and start with the same letter, like besttiles, gooddogs, etc.
Those need hyphens. And anything that has words ending in
s followed by ex or hit most assuredly need hyphens.

If a hyphen or anything else is causing you to worry about how
people feel or type-in, that's not SEO. But it proves my point
of having short, one (two at the most) keywords in a domain
as the best way to be memorable.

Many domains need hyphens. If your domain "needs" multiple
hyphens, I would rethink the domain. You are doing way too
        many keywords.

My crystal ball says domains like
mybestwiiproductsreviewsite.com are going to be on the outs.
And yes, that one would scream out for hyphens.

I use them all the time, it certainly doesn't hurt your site in the eyes of Google but if you're trying to get brandable and get repeat type in traffic it will be more difficult for people to remember.

I use them and have had really great luck with ranking well on sites with a hyphen.

The domain name, with or without hyphens is not a SEO determination. It is a business decision. Personally, I won't use hyphens in domain, it seems pretty unusual for brand promotion. But views may varies from person to person.

It doesn't matter much. But if you have too many hypens in URL then it could damage your ranking in search engine. Try to have atmost 1 hypen

SEO wise, I don't think it hurts at all and as some people have mentioned, it may even help. The question comes down to how you're going to get your traffic. If you're expecting it to mostly come through search engines, then I don't think it matters a bit what the url is. If you hope to make something big that may spread through word of mouth or put on a commercial or anything that people would be expected to type in the name of the site, then hyphens will probably hurt you because people will land on your competitor's page.

If it's just a matter of getting a domain with keywords that you want, there are other options available as well. You can go with mykeyword.com, thekeyword.com keywordsite.com keywordstore.com etc. Google pretty much just overlooks these addon words but in a case like store, it can even help you pick up a few random searches who are looking for a store that sells your keyword.
