My question is is there any prestigious as well as career boosting international certification program on SEO/SEM/IM etc. available from some premier vendors like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft etc.?

There are lots of certification programs on Programming languages, networking(I have one from CISCO), Hardware etc. So I think SEO/SEM/IM may have anything like that.

Thanks for replies................

I had the same thoughts when I was first starting out. I'm a programmer and as you say there are countless Microsoft exams you can do to prove your skills but more importantly enhance them. From what I've found though these don't really seem to exist when it comes to SEO.
I guess this is because Google would be the only ones qualified to offer them since only they truly know their algorithm.

You can give Google adword professional exam. It will cost you $100 for two exam. After passing those two exam, you will get adword certification link as a proof.

Just checking this out - very cool thanks for sharing!

      Otherwise, here's your SEO certification:

This my site at the #1 spot. Here is the level of competition...

^That's the only real SEO "certification" you can show or receive.

I am Bruce Clay certified. Very worthwhile, but very expensive.

there are no professional certifications for SEO at the moment. There are however many companies 'out there' claiming to have 'certification programs'. I can't post a link for you and I dont know if this is against forum rules but if you go to my website (cherylwaller.com), click on 'Learn about SEO' and then scroll down to #2 there, I have a few links to more information about the subject of certification, including a link about proposed future standardization.

I personally am against any type of standardization. It might be a goldmine for the testing authority, but we would be re-certifying until we were blue in the face simply due to the nature of the industry. I mean think about the recent release of Google+... we would all be back in certification classes now to learn Google+ and the second we 'passed' they would have rewritten the certification course.
