Keyword research - do the figures stack up?

Let's assume that you find a keyword that gets 2000 exact match searches(google keyword tool). The conversion rate is 3%. You hold the number 1 spot. What would be an estimate for the real number of monthly visitors coming from that keyword?

I usually assume that the visitors will be similar to 2000 in that example. This is not because I hold the no1 position. It is because traffic will come from other search engines as well and additional visitors will come from closely related keywords.

What do you guys think?
