Hey warriors,

any ideas on how to rank a facebook page on Google on top 10 for a keyword search,

Example page: - <This is not actual page to be ranked, just a sample>

Are we have to follow same way as to websites?

But I heard that nowadays Google even not give priorities for pages from Article directories, so, I feel that Google will treat Facebook pages same as articles from article directories, isn't? any thoughts please share,

  • Build some anchor texted backlinks.

It really depends on the competition for the keyword. Someone's name shouldn't be too hard to get a page ranked. But a fan page for a cause or other group will be a bit more work.

SEO basically works the same though.
  • Spiders don't rank Facebook pages because you need to be logged in to see them. When I'm on a system that's never logged in to FaceBook every FB I click goes to a login page. Clear your cookies (or create a new user on your system). Try it and you'll see. Search engines try to avoid data that's behind walls. FB marketing is for FB users: since there are so many millions of people on there it's a great strategy. But it's useless for increasing your profile in the outside world.

    • This isn't true. This is my page:

      Code:
      http://www.facebook.com/drifteduk
Open a Chrome Incognito window and copy the URL into the address bar. I bet you can still see it

If you search "drifted", you should see it on the first page.
    • You are wrong mate, I can show you there are some FB pages are ranking for Google search.......
    • Wow, you are so clueless, I can show you one of my fan pages in the top 3 positions of Google on page 1. The search engines love Facebook fan pages.

And no, you do not need to be signed in to view a fan page.
  • if you want to ranked on google then create some quality link pointing to your website.

  • It's kinda hard to rank in FB as the big G don't really like them and also you can't do customize much on a FB page. If you want to rank in FB itself, there's something called Edgerank =)
  • Here's some you can do...

Publish content that naturally encourages click-throughs or creates discussion. Objects such as creative games that require a response (i.e., trivia or caption contests) open up opportunities to add highly weighted interaction and build affinity with new users.

Make your fan page a place for constructive discussion on the latest industry topics.

Post great photos and videos! Photos and videos show up in the Facebook news feed as thumbnail images. Due to their size, they almost require interaction as users click on them to make them large enough to see. Be sure to add a comment that encourages users to open the photo and add comments of their own.

Try to promote interesting content from other sources by shaing links that require interaction as users click to view the object.

Update regularly with fresh and interesting content.

    Ask others to share too...

    • That's a lie.

You get a Facebook page ranked just like you do any other webpage. Solid onpage SEO and good quality backlinks.
  • those saying that facebook pages do not get indexed are totally wrong. Maybe some of them, but if configured properly it will be indexable just fine.

You can also build some proper inbound links and try to optimize them and get decent results.
  • I am ranking multiple Facebook pages on Google, for phrases like affordable social media marketing services. My Facebook pages outrank all pages on all my other sites. It's a matter of trying to get them to rank by putting effort into back linking and cross linking, and it works, because Facebook is a PR 9 site. Likes are just part of the equation, get in touch with me if you want more details.
