Hi. I read a lot about building links, SEO, etc and OVER TIME getting your page/site to #1 of Google...
I also read a lot about people making effort to get indexed...

but yesterday I wrote an article, uploaded it and in less than 24 hours it is not only indexed but is #7 on Google for the keyword. Granted, since I am a newbie I picked a very low traffic keyword, but still... it is an amazon product and other websites are also selling it / promoting it.

so what am I supposed to understand - there is some special way of writing that I accidentally did and got ranked #7 in less than a day without any of the SEO stuff people talk about?

Thanks for your advice.

P.S. This didn't happen to other articles I wrote.

Yep, sometimes all it takes is writing a unique article for a moderate to low competition keyword, and voila! you are placed on the first page. Then, there are other instances when it takes forever to get indexed and your website lands on page 5.

I have sites, with almost no backlinks that are still on the first page of Google all because of the following:

1-Picked a keyword with low competition.
      2-Wrote a 100% unique article.
      2-Ensured my on-site optimization was spot-on.

That's it. These sites have never been affected by any Google updates, including Panda.

Your article usually gets a boost in the serps when you post a new article to your site. Whether you stay or fall depends on the competition of the keyword. You can search for more on google. Here's a little article. How Google Search QDF (Query Deserves Freshness) Algorithm Works?
