Why are my backlinks not showing up?

I just started creating backlinks to a new site of mine and the backlinks are starting to disappear in yahoo site explorer. I had 8 links now it is down to 5.

A directory link and a squidoo page are the ones I see are gone. Why is this happening?

I am new to this so I am building the links manually in my spare time.

What I have done so far:
1.Submitted to Dmoz and a few other directories.(dmoz is showing
2.Started a linkwheel(squidoo lens, live journal, weebly, ezine article)
3.Social bookmarket all sites and articles
4.commented on various blogs and forums that are related to the website

Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone point me in a better direction?

Thanks in advance!

You can see my site at rapidring dot net

Your link building technique is good but maybe your comments are being deleted form those sites that's why your link are disappearing....

Do social bookmarking and blog commenting these two methods works well....

One problem I had with linkwheels was getting my linkswheel sites indexed by google. If your linkwheel pages aren't indexed in google, they aren't being counted.

Recently I've simply been buying backlinks from fiverr.com and sending them to all the spokes of my linkwheels and this gets them indexed and also adds link juice so the backlinks are higher quality and stick better.

Yahoo is slow in finding backlinks. Use Google webmaster tools.
You will see more backlinks detected there.

Yeah I've noticed how sometimes my backlinks are slow to showing up. A lot of times it totally depends on which sites are linking to you and how often Google crawls them.

I guess I just have to keep focused on my current strategy and eventually the links will come. Patience juice is what I need to be drinking!

Over the time some links die. Nothing you should worry about really. Just keep on doing what you are doing (:
