What would you consider the best types of backlinks? Please links them in a descending order....

Thank you!

  • There is no descending order list, as diversity is key in link building. However, there is one type of links that is superior to the rest: contextual links.

What is a contextual link? It's a link on a page that is relevant to your page. You can get them from:
    • Article Directory Syndication (best method)
    • Relevant Blog Comments
    • Guest Blogger
    • Press Release Syndication
    • Link Exchanges (with relevant websites)
The next one on the list will be relevant links from .gov & .edu websites (the good ones are hard to get), and then web 2.0 pages -- such as squidoo, hubpage, etc.

After that, you can get high PR profile links -- not as effective though but can still be good in your backlink arsenal.

    All the best,
    Kiril.
  • Best types of links, in order
    1) Link from a curator site like a library relevant to your niche.
    2) Voluntary editorial writing, the higher authority and trust of the site the better.
    3) Guest blog posts. the better the site the better the link.
    4) Press Releases
    5) Article directories
    6) Actual blog comments, relevant multiple sentences that are so interesting people read them and then check out your site. (takes 5 times longer but is 20 times better)
    7) Forum signatures in forums you actually participate in.
    8) Articles on web 2 sites like Webbly or LiveJournal or Squidoo
    9) Social mention links like Twitter and Facebook (not so great for links but can drive traffic)

    • Links manually created on high PR sites are the best...but that isn't so easy to do; especially if you have a portfolio of niche sites like I do. So, with that being said, here's what I do:

      1) start with some manual social bookmarks and a youtube video that links to your site. Wait a week.
      2) Build some anchor sites on Tumbler, Squidoo, LiveJournal, Blogspot, etc.. and point them 80% to your home page and 20% to deeper links. Use keyword for 80% of anchor text.
      3) Bookmark every page and every post with SocialAdr, or something like it.
      4) start an article marketing campaign and sent as many links as you like to your anchor sites. You can also send some directly to your money site, but don't overdo it.
      3) wait a month and see how you are doing. If you aren't on the first page yet, you might want to start some blog comments. Manual is best, but not overly practical UNLESS you have done a very good job of choosing your keyword and really don't need that many links anyway.

If after all this, you aren't ranking, you have picked a battle too hard to fight, in my books. I junk it and move on to more low hanging fruit.
