Is backlinking from a Facebook Fan page to a blog worth it? or Fb is no-follow?

Thanks,

  • Yea... after the panda update, Google started falling for FB fanpage links. If you doubt me, ask any real post-panda SEO guy.
  • Backlinks from FB are always good, I try and mix them in with other social site links.

    • Yeb, I agree. I am using facebook and i see that.
  • Facebook has the massive exposure than any other website and you are likely to get a lot of visitor from facebook if you have a fanpage with the link of your website there.

    • As long as the Facebook page is public and can be accessed without being logged into Facebook, then its free game.

I'd recommend checking that first, but as long as thats the case and its a popular FB page, a link can't hurt.
  • face book links are a way to dive traffic . It doesn't give backlink
  • Facebook page links are nofollow right?

  • there good for traffic i think
  • Facebook Fan page is really the great source of generating more and more traffic

    • yes creating one for your website can really get a buzz going because you can post to it about new updates or products on your website!
  • I think social networking website cannot be consider as backlinks providers specially facebook. These social networking sites can provide good amount of traffic but these links are not help in SEO...
  • Traffic wise Facbook is best source to increase your traffic ..
  • Yes, It helps to get traffic on your blog site. Backlinks from FB are no-follow.
  • FB Links are No-Follow however Google still uses the amount of times your link has been shared on FB as a metric of your sites credibility and therefore uses it in its ranking system. It does the same for Twitter.

Get more links to your site from FB and Twitter in my sig below.
  • I would doubt the value of FB with SEO in mind solely - that's a waste of time. Raising brand awareness, sharing viral content, communicating with your customers - this sounds more like a true purpose of running a Facebook Fan Page.

  • Backlinks from pretty much any site are good. You just don't want to overload the system with 1,000 or more links from one location. Spread out your links. Looks real that way.
  • okey. means all links of facebook are no follow but good to get traffic.
  • I don't know why people keep asking for dofollow and nofollow. People are concentrating hard only on 'rel' attribute of link, completely forgetting the exact importance of backlink.

While getting backlinks you should remember just two aspects-
    i) Is the site, linking your site is related to your niche or not?
ii) The site has good traffic or not.

All other properties of 'backlink' have no real value. And after Google's recent PR update craze for Dofollow link is also decreasing sharply.
  • Face Book is giving good traffic to blogs. The disadvantage is ad-sense program policies are avoiding the FB traffic.

Fan page backlinks are do-follow because I saw my link getting indexed by google....and a link from facebook is worth it...
  • It’s actually really simple to do using a new facebook application called TagK.
This app basically allows you to add links to a whole bunch of social sites to your profilepage, but more importantly, if you just invite a few friends, you get the option to add your own bespoke links! this means you can add to any blog or site you want…You may just recognise one of the people behind this new app...
So using facebook we simply attract people on your website and also create back links.
  • facebook links are useful for traffic only but has no worth in determining your ranking as they are no follow
  • somebody say facebook links is better but some say that they are no follow if the links are nofollow then how can it be better
    • [1] reply
    • That's because facebook link give you traffic so these are better for getting traffic and not for ranking

  • Im amazed that so few Warriors realize the SEO importance of being social...

Many top SEOs have done extensive research into social links like Twitter, Linked In, Facebook, +1 and others and all come back with conclusions that they weigh in on Googles ranking methods.

Old School SEO: onpage seo + backlinks = rankings
New School SEO: onpages seo + backlinks + social interaction = rankings

Read any industry blogs or even better take a look at the top search results for most searches and you will find they all have social backlinks do follow or not.

    • Finaly a usefull comment from a person who checks the right sources.

I'm allways flabbergasted how many people on this forum just spill their guesswork. Things like: "FB links are nofollow, so don't have seo value": total crap! Scroll up and you'll count so many bullsh!t comments.

Come on guys first study, try, experiment, observe, learn and read.
There are so many case studies on sites like Seomoz to find this out.

  • they have no-follow attributes but Facebook links are always useful, Panda recognizes conversations such as tweets, mentions, fb links
  • If that fan page is popular then backlinks are still good. Otherwise, it's not worth.
  • HI,

yes facebook is nofollow, but i get one backlink dofollow with one of my fan page.
  • Although it is no follow it can still help in gaining huge amount of traffic once you have a lot of fans on your page.
    • [1] reply
    • that's right, though it is no follow, it helps you much to build up your traffic. especially when your post is not private as anyone can see.
you can build up more traffic thru youtube, by uploading some vids. again, youtube is nofollow, am i right?

  • google say now its time to get social coz they also start G+
so start linking from social page
  • If you didn't know, no follow links play as much importance in rankings as do follow. Page rank has nothing to do with relevance, authority, and a natural looking link profile. If you think you should only make do follow links, and only use your keywords as link text, you have no idea at all about SEO.

    • LOL!!! This thread is hilarious!

FB links are all nofollow. Where do people get such nonsense
      that it's not?

PR does not count for links now? Laffa-Bull!

Man are you people waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out.

This thread morphed into a bunch of crap about traffic,
and not about how links in FB can or cannot help SERPS.

      Indirectly, I suppose. Directly? No.

FB has become one big spam fest. What do you think people
are saying when you post links? Spamzola.

People have ruined FB with spammed links. Luckily, they
are all pretty worthless. But, it shows the mentality of some
people. Since they are easy, they musy be good, right? Sure....

If people put their effort into getting links that actually matter...
man this forum would be empty.

      Paul
  • I'm very fortunate that Google follows my Facebook backlinks and no one elses. Everyone else seems to think Facebook links is no follow. I feel very special that it doesn't apply to me.
