Price limitation when promoting Amazon products ?

CJ is the largest affiliate program in North America... CJ itself doens't sell products, it connects advertisers to publishers; you can find almost every product to promote on there. One downside though is that the advertisers have to review & accept your site first, which might take time but shouldn't be a problem.

Although Amazon has a low commission rate, the sales rate from your traffic is usually very high, so that makes up for it. You usually don't have to send 100 to 250 visitors to get a sale, like you do when promoting Clickbank products.

Do you promote any product lower than 100$ and making a good revenue from it ? if yes, what is the monthly traffic to this site ?

I don't actually promote Amazon at this time. I plan to build some sites but I just haven't had the time or money yet.

I have a friend that does Amazon and is making a few dollars from it. Not a great deal at this time, but he hasn't been doing it for very long.

Most people seem to say to go for products of $100 or more. I don't think that is necessary though. I was reading about a fellow the other day that promoted lower priced items for the most part. There is more traffic for that price range, and often times Amazon customers will buy more than one thing when they visit. So if you send to after reading your book review for a $20 book, they may or may not buy that book so you get your fifty cent or so commission, but they may very well buy two or three others, and go on to buy something much more expensive.

And if you send them to look at a widget that costs $500, they may decide not to buy it and end up buying a $10 book. So it all works out in the end. Just send as many people as you can, Amazon will do the selling. They are good at that, which is why Amazon is good for so many affiliates.

Don't expect this to happen all the time. This usually happens during shopping season (black friday, christmas, etc) when people are looking to spend a lot of money.

Edit: I would also add that if the product you're promoting through amazon has their own affiliate program, promote them through their affiliate program, you will usually get much higher commissions.

I've pretty much promoted only Amazon products since I started a few months back. I like to throw in a mix of high and low priced items. I use the low-priced items to help boost my commission level. For example, if I was promoting something like swimming pool cleaners I would also have something that relates to that product on my site as well. In the swimming pool cleaner example, I might also have kids items like floating devices or something similar. The majority of my earnings come from the high-priced items, but the lower priced items are nice too. Not to mention people will often buy a number of lower-priced items without any promotion if I can just get them to click to Amazon.

Amazon is my biggest money maker, right above Adsense, with Commission Junction in third place. I made over $11,000 profit from Amazon last year and am on track to do over $15,000 with Amazon this year. Might hit $20,000 if my new sites kick in before the holiday season.

No, I'm not going to retire on that money but I did pay off a bunch of bills, am taking the family to Disney World and regular weekend trips with the wife to New York, and lots of other things that I would not have been able to do otherwise.

I regularly promote $20-$50 products BECAUSE PEOPLE ACTUALLY BUY THEM. Unlike the junk on Clickbank or expensive items, people will impulse buy a $20 item from Amazon. In fact, only around 20% of my Amazon commissions come from products I promote. The other 80% come from random stuff people bought after they clicked my link.

Don't worry about the price of the item you promote on Amazon, worry about driving traffic that IS IN A BUYING MOOD TO AMAZON, and you'll make bank.

You are right ElectronPlumber, high or low commission doesn't matter that much. What is more important is driving buying traffic. The more traffic, the more conversion, the more commission. I have a lot to do to draw traffic to my AStore. May I know how you are doing it?

Give up on the AStore. They're pretty much worthless. Go with real content on real site with links to products you like in the content. I have a bunch of Amazon Affilitate advice articles on my site, check out my sig. No opt-ins, all free, no BS, the only problem is I have a bunch more to write!

I sell products that less than $100 in Amazon, like Video, software, etc. But I combine that with > $100 products and the results is rocks..

  on product, click origin, how many items you sell a month, whether
  it's a 3rd party product, plus many, many other variations.
  
  Some items are capped at 4% or max like $25. You are not going to
  make 4% on a $1,000 laptop. You're going to make $25, 2.5%.

The main thing to focus is that the product should be hot selling one. Price is secondary consideration only. Remember that low priced items can be ordered in bulk leading to increased commission.

Generally I will do low cost products if I want to promote volume in order to up my commission percentage. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Amazon helps with conversions as it is considered a trusted seller and many people are comfortable spending money there.
