how to invest in backlinks?

Hi,

If you only had limited budget, say $20 a week, how would you invest it to build backlinks and google position?

I have recently used fiverr to get some profile backlinks, using somebody recommended in the SAMBA report.

And also some articles issued to over 1000 directories, again through fiverr.

But to see results and improvements in google position, how would you proceed?

Can anybody recommend anybody or service that really works?

Any "warriors for hire" promotions that get good results?

The site i'm looking to promote is about 10 months old and has been ticking over, with basic linking and good content.

Thank you for any advice or help. I'm getting confused with the options and look forward to someone elses opinion.

    Hi merlincat,

Regardless of what people tell you, in the end you will have to try out different methods or services for yourself. Test, test, test and then test some more. Be careful that you don't react to what is purely anecdotal evidence. At $20 per week it is going to take a while to gather enough data to be actionable.

Dedicate the next several months to testing a variety of different methods and services with the goal being to accumulate data that you can use to make informed decisions. Once you have enough data to make assumptions, spend another month or two testing and verifying those assumptions. Eventually you will have enough data to draw a valid conclusion about which methods and services that can be relied upon for success.

The bottom line is what worked for one person isn't necessarily going to work for you. There are many reasons why this is true, trust me on this.

Thanks for your advice, I understand that results vary for each person depending on skill set, niche etc

However, can I ask where you would start and what tactics you would test first?

      Thanks for any help

        Hi merlincat,

Personally, I would recommend that you first learn the difference between meritorious links and web spam. Then decide which path you want to follow.

Meritorious link building requires more effort and may take just a bit longer at the beginning, however your results will generally be longer lasting and grow in value over time. While web spam may be easier to generate, it tends to have substantially less value and requires massive amounts to make a significant difference over time.

The essential difference between meritorious links and web spam is that meritorious links are accompanied by useful and valuable content, while web spam tends to be useless self-serving content that often violates the terms of the either the website where it is placed or the search engine guidelines for valuable content.

          he makes an excellent point

Also according to some people a link that points to something that is related to the website that the link is located on will increase its value on google. i have no way of testing this but I would assume it is true

So if I was considering Article marketing as follows:

1)Original Article published on my site
          2)Published on Ezinearticles
3)Rewrite the article and use AMR (gig on fiverr)

Would that be a healthy way of backlinks?

    Merlin,

let me propose an alternative strategy that you will have to decide is profitable for you.

There are some people in these orums who have networks of high pr blogs that will sell you a home page link for lets say around $50 a month (below your $20 a week budget)

The high pr links would be worht hundreds if not thousands of profile backlinks unless I am mistaken.

The questions is then if you bought the $50 a month package would the increased rankings to cover the cost or even recoup a significant portion of it. You will probably have to test this to find out and it may not work for you but it is another strategy to look at.

    Good luck

  • A really great FREE backlinks system is Voltrank.com.

I have also had great success posting REAL comments in forums, while adding my signature below with a link to my site.

$20 a week isn't much but you don't have to spend a ton of money to get backlinks. Start posting comments, talking about your ideas on blogs and forums, and sign up for a Twitter account (add a link to your site on there). Google, for example, LOVES Twitter.
