Hi Warriors,

I thought I would seek out some suggestions here. Currently, our website is ranked #28 for an EXTREMELY competitive, term with over 89 million results.

My question is, what do you suggest I can do to give it a big push? I have been stuck around #25-#28 for about 3 months, and no matter what type of backlinks I get, I just cant seem to get it to move.

I have thought about using a service like ForumLinkBuilding to grab some high PR backlinks. Will this help? Any suggestions is appreciated!

A great way to see why your site ranks below other is to study your competition !

On one of my sites with PR 0 is nr. one on google from 120 million results. My competitors have PR2 ,3 , 4 but my on page SEO is better ; I'm outranking wikipedia which has a PR5 for my keyword!

You can use seocentro dot com !!

Have a look at what other sites in your niche are doing, and do it better.

If the ones on the front page update monthly, you update weekly, etc.

    Good luck.

At this point your gonna need SOLID backlinks, as well as link diversity.

For competitive terms, nothing beats out solid high PageRank links from trusted domains. Don't believe me? Look into those top ranking websites backlink profiles. I assure you they have some solid backlinks pointing to them.

SEO is a match and exceed game. You don't care about the 89 million sites, only the top 10 for your keyword. Figure out why they rank for your term, then match what they have and exceed it. If they have 50 PR5 links, get 51. If they have 10k inbound anchored links, get 10,001. If they have good on page optimization, get great on page optimization. Every SERP is different. Know your competition (the top 10) and you'll see the route to take.

Yeah I never understood why people even bothered to take "competition" into account. Who cares how many millions of pages are returned when you type it into Google. The only "competition" that really matters is what's on Google's 1st page...and well, the second page too...because it can give you a really good indicator of how tough your competition is.

Without knowing the niche and strength of the top 10 results, helping you is difficult. The fact that there are 89 millions results mean nothing.

In my experience, especially since Panda, adding content is pretty damn important. How does your content's quality and quantity compare to the top 10 results? How about domain age? On-page SEO factors like Title and whether or not the keyword is in your domain, are also quite important.

I actually have a 70 minute long free webinar that covers all this stuff on my blog. Just go to my sig link and then after the .com type /researchwebinar. There is no optin needed.

Starting kicking things into overdrive by adding more content and adding more links. This should kickstart your site out of that spot.

what types of backlinks have you built... have you done any high PR backlinks?

low PR and mass links will usually only get you so far. To get that final push into the top 10 you will likely need some high PR links to push you over the edge.

You can try a high PR network, blogroll links, high PR blog comments or high PR niche blog posts... or a combination of all of the above to make the biggest impact

There could also be some other factors, such as on page SEO and etc that might help. I can give a better analysis if I take a more detailed look... if you want to PM me I can check it out for you

Can anyone recommend a good high PR network? I am having a similar challenge as 'Allustrious'. I would like to have real PR backlinks to my site (not just the links where the domain has a high PR, but the actual page giving the backlink is a PR0/PR1).

As to your question: I am on page 1 for some niche keywords. I used Traffic Travis to help me really get a feel of what my competition has (i look at top 10/20 competitors). Then like 'Grindstone' mentioned I "one-up" them. I also still get links from Ezine Articles (by writing good articles) and I find them valuable.

A lot of people mentioned the need for fresh content being added frequently. This is something I could use clarity on... Do you guys mean update the site frequently or update the page that you are trying to rank for frequently, because I like to do both.
