Keyword Tool, How Accurate?

I found a keyword for my niche with 5400 global and 880 exact monthly searches.
There is already established site with the keyword in the domain with .org extension which is PR2 and in top5. How accurate the keyword tool is, because when I looked at the stats on the .org site they only getting 17-40 uniques / day which in my opinion is very low considering 5400 / 880 searches and PR2 + top5.
Any one have similar experience?

880/month approximately translates to 29/day. 17-40 uniques/day sounds about right.
