Is Site Search Box An Hindrance To Ranking

Hi Warriors,
I recently changed to a new wordpress theme which features a search box prominently at the top right hand. Of recent, searches via the box by my site visitors has increased and concomitantly with that , i observe a gradual de-indexing of my blog posts.
Looking at my sitemap within Google webmaster, the no. of indexed pages is declining. From my site statistics, i notice that the search terms inserted in my site search box usually features in the search engine result pages often ahead of my actual blog posts on that topic and sometimes alone without any trace of the actual blog post pertaining thereto. Instead, my site home page which hosts the search box utilized, shows up when the link on the SERP's for the search term is clicked.
For example if you view the SERP's for the keyword phrase "gdi home biz", from my own end here, the search query phrase which is "gdi home biz" which actually led me to that keyword phrase, shows up as no. 6 while 2 other blog posts of mine, features as nos. 7 and 8.
Do you think these search queries are causing the gradual de-indexing of my pages and so i should remove the search box?
