I have just done standard white hat backlinking.

You have very few links that I can find with any kind of PR. Almost all of your links are PR 0 or PR n/a.

The number of links are not the most important thing. The quality of the links are important too.

Without looking at any of your competitors, I would bet that they have better quality links.

Intriguing question, particularaly as I too run a commercial cleaning business and am focussing on getting rankings up.

I just had a quick look at your on page SEO (haven't looked at backlinks yet but others have made good suggestions re the strength of your backlinks) and I think this could be a big part of the problem as you seem to be targeting so many keywords.

here's my thoughts on where your on page SEO could be improved..

1. Add the keywords 'carpet cleaning tampa' to meta keywords
2. Change your meta description to something simpler like 'Carpet Cleaning Tampa - Professional Carpet Cleaning Services for the Tampa Bay Area'
3. Page Title - if you're targeting Carpet Cleaning Tampa then just have this as your title tag
4. H1 tags - arrghghghg! You currently have about 14 <h1> tags showing for this page. The <h1> tag is important - make ONE into <h1>Carpet Cleaning Tampa</h1> and change the remaining tags to <h3> or lower (use your stylesheet to keep the fonts looking the same as you currently have if you want)
5. <h2> tag - again 6 <h2> tags. Leave ONE as 'Carpet Cleaning Tampa' and change the rest to <h4> if you have to.

I'd start with these things and see how you go - I think at the moment Google is VERY confused with your page!

Might wanna throw in some meta keywords, nothing shows up when viewing the page info. Everytime you update the content on the site, ping it to make sure the search engines pickup the new content
