Domain Name into a Brand Name

hello,

i am looking to start a canadian tourism blog. highlight destinations, lodges, major cities and far off towns etc.

i want to brand this site vice the other sites i've created where i used generic keyword URL's.

i'm thinking about using:

www.destination-north dot com

i thought about doing it without the - but a christian group out of Michigan has already taken it.

does anyone see any flaws in my planned domain name?

      Hi redstanford,

      When choosing a domain for branding purposes I would recommend the following attributres:
      • Short
      • Easy to spell
      • Easy to remember

      You want a name that people will remember and type into their browser address bar. Avoid a hyphen since many folks will forget to use the hyphen when typing the branded name. Otherwise, you will need to strongly emphasize the hyphen in your advertising message.

    I completely agree. Hyphens are no good for starting a brand name, most people forget to type them in. The fact that its a .com is great, just need to make it shorter and have no hyphen. I generally go for keyword domains instead of brand names, but brand names are becoming more trusted by search engines these days.

      Hey man,

      You should just go with the .net...

      I mean, the brand is "destination north", so it shouldn't really matter what extension it has.

      Unless of course, you want to make the .com part of the brand.

          i like destination north, but i've also found boundforcanada, therealcanada and a few others

          or should i try to really brand it? frommers dot com has no kewyords in it at all but they have a great site
