Opt in popups and Adsense?

I know traditional popup windows are against Adsense' TOS and will get you banned. But what about those WP opt in form popup plugins?

Like ActionPopup and FasterIM optin. Can you use those on an Adsense site?

Google doesn't allow pop-ups or pop-unders of any kind.

    "Google AdSense Program Policies"

"Sites showing Google ads should be easy for users to navigate. Sites may not change user preferences, redirect users to unwanted websites, initiate downloads, include malware or contain pop-ups or pop-unders that interfere with site navigation."

    I hope that this helps.

      Thanks for the info.

That give's me another idea. What if you have a floating opt in box on a page with Adsense? Is that allowed?

This just another case of people not reading the rules.

Newsflash: Google allows a popup with adsense sites.

People misquote or don't highlight what is right.

Publishers aren't permitted to place ads on sites which have more than three pop-ups. If pop-ups are displayed on a website, they may not interfere with site navigation, change user preferences, initiate downloads, or distribute viruses.
I do believe they have since modified to allow only one popup.

You should highlight the "pop-ups or pop-unders that interfere with site navigation."

        So it makes this statement:
Google doesn't allow pop-ups or pop-unders of any kind.
        Completely false.

I know people get tired of me saying this, but read the rules. Really.

If you have a question on popups and adsense, the best place to find the
answer is on the help pages from google. Not the WF from people who
may misquote due to them hearing a myth.

    Ever heard of Feedburner?

Google owns Feedburner, & every single Feedburner optin form redirects to the Feedburner popup captcha/form.

I've had the Feedburner popup on my Adsense sites for about 5-years...

I have pop ups on some my sites and their been no problem.

But like Paul said. You can only have one.

Not sure what the state of affairs regarding exit popups though.

What's your take on that Paul?

Thanks for clearing that up Paul.

I'm guessing that WP optin popups fall under the category of "interferes with site navigation", right?

If the exit popup requires an action from the visitor, like a "click here
to continue" you are walking a fine line. That IMHO interferes with surfing
      out.

However, many large news sites that have adsense will have a subscribe
screen that completely obliterates the whole page. You have to close
it to surf around. Not sure if that qualifies as a popup, but it does cover
the ads which sounds like a violation.

Google does have different rules for big sites.
