  • There's no problem in adding your city name in your anchor text as long as it will give you good results in traffic statistic. We also doing it in our anchor text.
  • Electronics Repair is a pretty broad keyword. Unless you're putting in the work to conquer those serps I'd suggest steering clear.

Be sure to also alter your ALT tags to be keyword-rich on your images btw. Serves the same benefit.
  • My recommendation is to do a little bit of both. You don't want ALL your links to have the same anchor text. Also, even if you won't be able to rank for "electronics repair" (that exact kw), having it in your anchors will help you rank for any related keywords that include that term.

    • Adding city name in your anchor text gives more traffic. Mainly it helps to increase local search traffic.
  • It's better when you are going to add you geo with services.
  • Awesome, thanks!

I would do both at the same time.

Anytime you create an external backlink do this.

    Houston Electronics Repair

That's above, both point to the same page/url.

Assumes all of the keywords used in the backlink anchor-text (Houston, Electronics, & Repair), are also in your page title.

    • That's a great idea, the proximity of the keywords to each other will pass additional relevance for the full term as well.

[EDIT] Was just thinking about this more, it would be best to use a 301 redirect for one of the links to get around the first link rule ie only the anchor text of the first link will count for two links going to the same page from the same page.

If www.website.com is your canonical URL then...
      <a href="http://www.website.com">Houston</a> <a href="http://website.com">Electronics Repair</a>
  • I prefer using "City Name Electronics Repair" rather than "Electronics Repair" alone. You can get more value including the city name as it users don't search in general term.

Think of it like this, if your are in Houston and looking for an Electronics Repair, would you mind searching for it in general? Even though search engines might showed up thousands of result from all over the world offering the same service you are looking for yet you can't get since it's not available at your place?

I own an electronics repair company. I've been doing a lot of SEO and back-linking lately. I'm wondering if it's best to include my city name in the anchor text for my articles, profiles, posts and so on. My current anchor text is as followed "City Name Electronics Repair". I'm wondering if it would be best to use "Electronics Repair" as my anchor text instead. What are your thoughts or experience with this?
