How long does it take for new links to take affect with google ?

I did some video posts across youtube.com / vimeo.com / etc... some of the links have been indexed by google already (was about a week ago for the posts). I haven't seen any changes yet in my rankings, nor have I seen the links show up yet in webmaster tools.

So in summary, the point of this post is to say that I'm an impatient person when it comes to things I'm excited about ... anyhow if anyone knows generally how long it takes google to associate links it would be appreciated.

SEO results could take 2 weeks or 6 months. It varies greatly depending on a lot of factors.

Yeah expect a few weeks to see results IF the links carry any weight. Best is to not think too much about it but rather just keep building them. You'll rise in rankings sooner or later (usually later, unfortunately).

What about directories like JoeAnt and what u seek? How long does it take for these links do generally take effect? I put my Real Estate site for Bronx Homes and I haven't seen them link yet even though I am in both directories.

Hi, Be patient because Google takes some time to show results and bookmark you blog over social bookmarking sites to get good results.

Thanks fellas (and maybe ladies ?),

I see so much about how quick google is to index the new pages (eg. youtube) but wasn't sure how long it takes for google to take into account the back link association.

i think your backlinks have to be indexed first, it'll take days, weeks, months, no body knows... unless you have a backlink indexer...

Get a backlink indexer, it helps you a lot.

They don't ALWAYS take months, especially if you ping them.

I have noticed changes within hours on new sites especially.

That said, if you don't notice anything right away, that doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong and you should just be more patient.

I know for sure that most of you stop building links after you've seen some results, don't know why, anyway if you don't see any quick results means that you didn't offered google enough information about your website through your links...simple fix: just keep building links(don't limit your links to "i have to build 10 links let's see what happens" it's not always a numbers game).

I think links start to count once Google finds them. It's as easy as that...

Patience is truly key with Google. I've seem some things have a very quick effect on rankings, and same things on other sites taking long to reflect in rank changes/results.

Also note that Google Webmaster Tools doesn't show all the links to a page, at least that's what I've seen.

I am pretty sure there is no simple answer to this. If there were, we could easily make direct connections between links we had built and results in the SERPS and maybe reverse engineer the algo in some way. Google ain't gonna allow that so I am willing to bet there is all kinds of randomness built in and complexities in the algorithm that prevent this. Short answer: SERPS will move when they move, keep building links (heard that one before?) Usually it's weeks for me...

I Will Also Suggest You To Pay More Attention On "On Page SEO" Rather Than On Backlinks
