My last hurdle before launching my own campaigns - landing pages.

Hi, I'm currently interested in learning PPC advertising, and I'm choosing Facebook for my first practice network. I've got the budget to support it, I've got some of the knowledge, and I've definitely got the burning passion to devote myself to this business to make it work. I've done about all I can(I think?) before actually making my own campaign and just studying it to further my learning. I'm left with one question...

How the hell does this "landing page" business work? I've read nickycake's newb guide, and that has been a GIGANTIC help explaining things, but I'm left with a few questions. Where exactly does this landing page get hosted? I'm using tracking202 as my starter tracking program, and I still have to sort things out there...but can anyone simplify this process for me? This is what I think I understand of the process so far, which steps am I missing?

I have broken it down into very simplistic terms...so bear with me:

Step 1. Join an affiliate network (in my case, Ads4Dough/Peerfly.)
Step 2. Sign up for campaigns, choose what network you're going to advertise on. (In my case I've chosen dating campaigns, on Facebook.)
Step 3. Research your target group, demographics, etc
Step 4. Establish the advertisement itself. Title, copy, picture.
Step 5. ...establish a landing page? This is where I'm a bit fuzzy. Where are reliable places to have one made? Where is this hosted? How do I synchronize it with my campaign so it properly tracks that its MY campaign and my statistics?
Step 6. Launch campaign?...

I appreciate any help. I'm really new to this, so I'd appreciate thorough simplicity. Thanks in advance guys!

On top of what I've already asked, I've got another big question - any helpful starter tips from accomplished affiliates? We've all heard "just work hard and push through the negatives," but what is one thing you all wished you knew in the beginning before starting this?

Again, all/any comments are much appreciated, thank you!

Facebook can be very picky about the ads they will allow, and the products associated with those ads. Be sure to have a back up plan. A landing page is simply that...the page where your visitors will first come to when(if) they click on your ad. The competition in the dating arena for keywords is swift, and keywords are what help you show up in search results, which in turn can bring you traffic. Study hard and good luck!

PS: What do I wish I knew in the beginning? Not to try to compete with the big dogs trying to sell cameras, swimwear, etc.
