The Panda update and Autoblogging

Has anyone taking a hit on their autoblogs when the Panda update struck? I am talking about autoblogs that grab content from sites that permit republished content. Has anyone setup any new autoblogs that are actually working with the new google updates in terms of rankings?

  • I'm seeing decent traffic on the majority of my autoblogs.

    It's possible to rank, if you have a plan.

    Albiet, it's not something I would get into right now. You're better off creating unique content IMO. Still, I'm getting nice traffic.



  • I agree with Sarevok, I wouldn't get into autoblogging these days. I consider it an outdated method, though I'm sure plenty of people are still having success with it. To me it feels too much like 2007 though

    • I still make money from a few of my earliest autoblogs (although I have changed my approach considerably since then) and a couple of them are from 2007.

      That 2007 money spends just as well as the 2011 money does so I guess I will go ahead and keep them a while longer

  • I would not believe all the scare stories with autoblogging. Believe it or not my autoblogs actually were boosted in their rankings after the Panda update.

    I think the problem is with the use of the word 'autoblogging' which unfortunately conjures up an image of ultra black hat low quality sites. In the end it really depends how you construct these networks and what your ultimate goals are. I would stress that the days of autoblogging simply using syndicated content with no relation to your blog are over. Quality content is key and that is what the search engines are looking for. If you are able to provide this then autoblogging is just as viable in my opinion as any other method....again its what you are intending to do with these autoblogs that must be the core question for anyone attempting to start up new networks moving forward.
  • I have a few small sites that are autoblogging, but my biggest traffic sites come from fresh content.

  • I'd suggest to add new fresh content along with autoblogging. I tried Autoblogging and the content wasn't so great and optimized as SEO. I barely got Search Engine Traffic to those pages. Those content tries to generate backlinks back to the authors' sites.
  • I have a few autoblogs as well... doing good and the traffic is improving... =D
  • If you want quick cash that is vulnerable give autoblogs a try, but you could be wasting your time. They are like the penny stocks of the internet

    If you want to build a steady stream of income create quality sites with good information and quality backlinking.

    I think autoblogs are just another way to pollute the internet, I wouldn't expect them to be a lasting source of income

    • Since we are on this topic of reposting existing content on the web.

      Before Panda Update, i remember reading on the debate whether its perfectly fine to repost data / articles on articles directories and elsewhere to get better visibility without 'spinning' the articles vs re-spinning them for unique content,etc.

      After reading the Panda update excerpts, it states that duplicate content like appearing to resemble these in nature will be penalized, etc as they resemble content farms. If you do re-post data, how do you not fit into this category as even if you claim if your content is a high quality repost.

      I initially wanted to ask Alexa Smith this directly but was lookin for the right place to post to hear what everyone else has to say.

  • Just don't use adsense on your autoblogs... I received an email from Google Adsense team to remove my adsense on it or they will disactivate my adsense account...

  • A lot of the time it comes down to the particular keywords, for some reason some autoblogs have made it ok through panda, but other keywords have taken a bit hit, but the general consensus in the SEO world going forward is unique content, the big G is about to release another panda upgrade further targeting scraper sites, so don't fight the tide swim with it.
