SEO is really difficult and big investment

Today I happen to find a blog like website ranked #1 for a keyword, and it has page rank 4, so I checked site explorer in yahoo, it turns out it has about 200 websites linking to it. Also many of the websites linking to it have page rank 4 or 5.

How did that website gets 200 pr 4-5 websites linking to it? It appears it's not through blog comments, the links were actually part of the content.

I can't imagine how much money and time it would require to build 200 pr 4-5 websites, and I don't know how much this would cost you to have 200 pr4-5 websites linking to you, but obviously most affiliates will not be able to compete with seo companies with this kind of resources.

if anyone interested, I will share a few websites ( if it is allowed here)

    Sounds like paid links.

What I would do is shoot for any of the 1-10 positions on Google SERPs for your keyword, just to test the traffic.

If the keyword isn't getting any traffic 5-10 on the SERPs for your target keyword, I wouldn't waste my time with that keyword. Go after related keywords as plan B.

A lot of times you would be very surprised in the keywords that don't show up in Google Keywords Tool.

The more variety of similar keywords in your own sites internal page titles + the free WP plugin below, the easier it is to find new & easy search traffic.

since nothing is free especially come to SEO.

I have a question here , is it better to spend $150 each month on seonuke or 35 PR 5 home page text links?

Or is it better doing everything myself , like blog commenting, forum posting?

Or is it better just find a SEO company do it?

Of course, go for 35 links on pages with PR5, there is no doubt about this.

You do not need to spend money to create backlinks there are plenty of places where you can place free classifieds and build simple one page websites. I advise people just starting out to place 1000 classified adds and build 500 webpages and within a few months you will see the results you talk about.

Yes its a fair amount of work but if you want results you need to do the work.

Sounds to me like it is some sort of authority page or aged page with great content, causing a lot of great pages to link to it.

    This takes time and money.

The fact is, the average affiliate doesn't have to compete with these sites.

If it is not actively targeting the keyword, it will be easy to outrank them. Otherwise you can just go for a more specific money-keyword with less-difficult competition.

let me publish a few websites, if they are not allowed, let me know I will remove them

    www manhattancb4 org - PR 5
    www mystical-twilight com - PR 4
www downloadify info - PR 5
    merbclass com - PR 4

Above websites seem to build a blog farm and they will have links embedded into content and point to the targeted website.

Seriously, how can you compete website using this kind of service?

if I can't beat them, do I have to join them ?

OK, let's take one of those sites and look at it in more detail.

      manhattancb4.org

This site has PR5 with around 12000 links and was registered in 2001.

Originally this site was the Manhattan Community Board website, hence the reason it would have gained a lot of links over the year.

The current owner must have picked it up in an auction and it essentially using it to pass on link juice to a whole variety of sites.

If you want to do the same, just purchase yourself an aged domain with good PR and links. Sometimes you can get lucky and pick one up relatively cheaply.

I have one website that is VERY good quality content, I made detailed how to videos, LONG and detailed articles and created FB page and a quality youtube channel for it. This site gets a lot of natural links

If the site you have is not a quality one then maybe the person got a lot of paid links, or perhaps they own many high PR sites and used them to link to it.

Yes, you do need to balance your return on investment for the money you spend in SEO. Almost every position for every major keyword has been gotten through paid links with exception to some of the mega authority websites - amazon, ebay etc.

If strategies all the process smartly then it will help you to boost your ranking in very short period. For e.g. domain age plays big role in increasing the online reputation. If your own domain was live from 2-3 years and having good backlink from reputed site then Google and other search engine will give high priority to those domain while indexing. SEO needs lots of time and money investment.

If you willing to save that time then their are many online seo firm with help you to get top ten ranking on Google. Please make sure you are choosing right seo firm for your business. There are many scammers available to steal your money. so please be aware about that.

For a company that is able to monetize its traffic the SEO cost actually is not that great. I have worked with companies in different industries to help them for SEO. For many of them a customer is worth $1000 to $10,000. So, if they get only 1 customer it pays them to invest on building a lot of backlinks. Keep that economy in mind and the first question you should ask is how much your competitor makes on average from one conversion to a customer. Bring to the account what the conversion rate on average is in your industry. (from website visitors to actual customers) You will see how it works then.

You have to always remeber that your competing against the page, not against the entire site. And the amount of backlinks isn't always accurate to determine if you'll be able to knock out your competion. Reason being that the site might have 1900 backlinks but they are going to varied. You can beat any competion with enought time and backlinks but is it worth the effort.

Also you have to consider that if this is an aged domain, they've been building backlinks for years, these guys don't stop just because they hit number one. In the end it's all about the ROI, is your return on investment worth the traffic. Obioviously it must be because this site has invested substantially in there backlinking efforts. But it will take time, and money to knock a site like this. That's why its so crucial to do your keyword research ahead of time, exact match domains, On pag seo, updating quality content can help you, move up closer. Check on trafic travis to see how there on page seo is, and how many competing pages in quotes there are. Anything over 1 million might be tough. There's so many variables, you have to do your research before you just jump in to something like this.

SEO should be the start and not something you retrofit, it is not hard to learn to learn the basics of SEO a smart teenager would soon pick it up if you can drag them away from computer games. What do you call high investment, its no more expensive than many online opportunities.

The most common error is bad business choice, to stand the best chance of success you need to look for something you either have knowledge about or an interest in. Just wanting to make money is not a viable choice.

You need to spend time researching what would be good to market taking into account you interests and knowledge looking for niches which could produce money.

You then start looking and researching key words and content including a good name for your blog or website.

Once the planing phase is complete commit to the project, you purchase a website and a hosting account and start building your site following Google webmaster guide lines. do not worry yourself to much about keyword density and Google algorithms these are for technical geeks, just use common sense and good content.

Now does that sound difficult and it may have cost you $20 is that a big investment

The final part is to set a a daily routine to build back links from websites and blogs, I will not repeat again what I wrote earlier in this thread. But thanks to virtueinfo11 for adding additional steps.

Oh and bye the way adding one or two lines of comments in forums and blog posts is not good SEO practice and will not improve your results, the Google spiders are hungry for good concise content.

  • Big companies pay for links. So what? That's business.

What the original poster here is not understanding is these links are BUILT OVER TIME. And Page Rank is NOT Site Rank.

So they are #1 to you for one specific search phrase. And that same phrase searched by another person my show them as #5. Search is a moving target.

If you want to make money... you figure out quickly that you focus on specific search phrases that lead people to you MONEY PAGES. The home page doesn't matter and neither does Page Rank.

The hardest part I found about SEO, when I started, was getting around all the guru lies, false information, outdated tactics and everything else. From what I have found, just the basics go a long way. Besides, SEO is only part of running a website, and it should never be the only thing you focus on.

True, there is a lot of false information out there due to speculation.

For me, SEO is usually a pretty big area of focus for me. Although ultimately it is the traffic that matters and it can be done with a variety of measures. Social media, SEO, ppc, email marketing... many different things can be done to get traffic!

There are two major parts of SEO... one, is learning...two, is actually implementing it... I guess maybe there is three, because the third would be waiting.
