1. Study and read everything possible about advanced SEO techniques right from the start of your project.
2. Always keep in mind that designs are cool, but what is equally important is the code that goes behind it.
3. Keep a horizontal directory structure, don't go too deep with them, the search engines likes easy access to any file in the quickest time.

  • quite impressive post but web design really affect SEO? i think coding does not make high effect on search engine optimization.

    • With regard to on-page SEO, a lot of people seem to think that on page does not work, or the meta tags etc are not important.

      I can certainly say that on-page is very important, especially for local and even some national search results.

      All the meta tags are important, so are remarks, css and div tags. on page can go in-depth as well, it all depends on how good you are. I have had many clients appear on the 1st page of google for local searches, and also some nationwide searches.
  • A very short list if you ask me with lots missing. Of course the code affects the SEO. The code is what makes the page. If there was no effect on SEO then there would be no such thing as on page SEO!?!?

    • Agree. I believe that a clean code in websites is very important in SEO. It is important to make a website more accessible and makes it easy for search engines to notice your presence on the web.
  • I certainly think that a clean coding website offers a huge amount of SEO benefits. It can address accessibility issues which can often cause problems with site indexing.
    Also, with page load time being a SEO factor (IMO) I believe that web design carries a greater importance both from a user experience and also a positive view which search engines have on pages within their index.
  • Can I use Flash or jquery? Is there any issues when I'm going to put a image only on my home page nothing make sure under the image I having a link 'Enter' or 'wel come' to other inner pages.

    • I do a fair amount of design and SEO for my clients, I can certainly say that Flash does have issues with SEO, it may look nice and be optimised well, the trouble is the Google spider can't see whats through the flash code, so hence can't read all the text you may have in the image.

      A quick trick may be to enclode the flash in a <Div> tag, then you could add <div title="your keywords and description"> on some browsers this then shows up when you move your mouse over the image.

      Some alt tags dont work with flash, they simply dont show up.
