Website Optimization for Panda?

Hello Warriors,

This is my first thread, I joined after noticing that other forums just weren't as helpful as WF.

Anyways, the topic of this thread is to gauge your thoughts on website optimization as a way to overcome some of panda's meanness. I have been working on my website for a few months now, and now I am switching gears to try and get it to climb to Google's front page.

I have been reading some of there blogs, and it seems that they want the web to be faster, and more optimized. I was wondering if this is a technique that you guys (and gals) utilize.

I myself have been trying to increase my page speed and yslow score in order to appease the Google. Is this something you do personally?

  • There was a WSO launched yesterday or the day before where they outline their best practices for Post-Panda optimization and shows a handful of case studies form start to finish.

    For the most part, On-page optimization and social media marketing seem to be the more important elements to optimization nowadays.

  • One thing i have found post panda is that you really need original content to rank well. Also articles need to be longer then they used to be.
  • Q&A sites are doing very well after the Panda update, also video's are ranking well, facebook, twitter etc too.
  • i agre backlinksboy i have shifted to getting links from videos and social media 20% more now than i was a year back. as for articles im spinning deeper and focusing on LSI and ranking for individual keywords
  • Definitely mix things up. If you have a content site, have varying length articles, some articles with images, some with videos etc. Perhaps some PDF resources too?
  • I've definitively heard that for content sites, but I run an online store. Now it's pretty new, but I haven't found anything that has negated stores in the rankings due to panda. Which is why I figured optimization would be a good idea.
  • Good question. Site speed is one of the signals that Google use nowadays. However I would not go crazy over it but also pay attention to the other important SEO elements
  • When it comes to Google panda, there is no only one way, it is combination of ways.
