Weird thing with page rank

I had something weird happen and I'm trying to understand why. I have a relatively new site (4 months old) that is a passion site so I have been posting to it almost every day.

I was thrilled when the last update showed the site itself is now page rank 2.

Here's where the strange thing is. During the last week of July and first few days of August, I was on vacation so I opened up my blog for guest posts.

I was lucky enough to get guest posts for all the days I was gone. I am finding that most of these guest posts are now also a page rank 2.

They are only a few weeks old. None of my own posts that I have written are over page rank 1. And many are a 0 or n/a. So what's so special about these guest posts? They don't have back links to them that I can see.

Any theories?

So how in the world did the guest posts get to a 2 so fast? Google sure seems to love them.

Makes me think I really should start guest posting on other blogs.

It could be that the guest posts have higher quality content which would give it a higher pagerank after panda.

That crossed my mind too...for a second. Most of my stuff is very high quality as this is a passion site which I know a lot about.

And a few of the guest posts weren't all that great if I have to be truthful but I went ahead and ran them.

      So I don't think that's it.

wow, that is weird - maybe you just discovered something here? Perhaps Google knows when you're updating your own site and when others are posting content to it? Not something I've heard of before, and if there's no backlinks then that's definitely baffling.
