Buying All Available Domains as An Inurance Against Competition?

I have picked a keyword for a micro niche.
I did a domain name check and it turned out that the keyword is available as a domain name under .com, .net & .org

In other words: domain-wise the keyword is perfectly free and available.
However, sooner or later, other people will find this keyword too, and they will start their own campaigns for it.

Should I buy all three domains (com, .net & .org) to insure myself from future competition?
Or is .com enough (as it is supposed to be the "most dominant" domain extension of the three and supposedly will keep me above future .net and .org competitors)?
How true is it that .com is the most dominant extension anyway?

You could buy all three if they are not too expensive but having the KW domain is not the only thing that puts you ahead of the competition.

      Sure it isn't!
Still I have noticed that it helps a lot.

I know that a well prepared competitor can beat me, even if he doesn't have the best domain name. If they put the effort and the money in their campaign, they can dominate me for sure.

On the other hand, I have seen miserable 1-page web sites, that were basically just one front page filled with ads, that ranked on first page of Google just because they had a perfect domain name for the keyword.

So, I think the domain name is quite important for rankings and maybe I will buy all three domains for my KW to protect myself from future competition.
Because strong competition is bad but strong competition with a perfect domain name has to be even worse.

      Exactly my thoughts too.

And those days are numbered, it is getting harder and harder to have a page 1 ranking. It is getting away from having a KW matched domain and checking off 4 boxes in Market Samurai,,,fresh content is more important in my opinion.

That said, yeah if you have the bucks to buy them, can't hurt. Me personally would pass.
