SEO software doesn't lead to your site being "banned". If that were the case everyone would get everyone elses website banned from the search engines and you'd see services throughout the internet that would help you remove your competitors.

SEO software can help you do more than just get "backlinks" to your site you know. SEO software can help cut your research time down by DAYS, literally. If you are praising doing manual link building then I sure hope you got tools to help reduce your time, otherwise you aren't being productive at all.

Work smarter, not harder.

I also do not recommend Photoshop for retouching pictures either because if you look really close you might be able to see cloning errors, and customers would not like that and ban your business. Always do photo retouching manually, by hand, with paint and a tiny paintbrush.

Senuke is not very blackhat actually and although scrapebox is, it can be used in a non black hat way.

I also do not recommend driving, as you may one day speed and get pulled over by the police, or hit some innocent bystander. Always ride a bike as it is much safer.

Personally I started similar thread few days ago, there are some nice points too.

Although I still didn't find which software to invest in, I think that fully automated software will lead to ban. Here is the thing: Google(or anyone else) won't ask you if you've used software or not as long as it is natural.

Some programs are good and provide great results, while others will affect your site rankings negatively. SEO software works as long as you are using it in the right way. However, if you have just launched your site or you are not familiar with SEO, you should focus on organic search engine optimization.

Some people love it, and others hate it. I've used it before and will not again. I've also used SEO Link Robot; support is Ok, but too buggy.

Magic Submitter can submit automatically to a variety of sites (like SENuke), but the main benefit is the Designer mode which allows you to to add your own sites (e.g. you can add Web 2.0's). Problem is it has a very high learning curve. Support is weak if you have any issues, and you'll need to contact the developer for a solution.

Ultimate Demon is something I will be trying out soon, as they've just released the beta version of the Designer mode, similar to SENuke, where you can visually 'draw' a link building campaign. in terms of features Nuke and Demon are almost neck and neck. Competition is always a good thing for the consumer!

Also, I would avoid any of the tools if you only have a few sites to maintain. People sometimes do it the wrong way around, they buy the tools first and then expect magic. If you have an SEO strategy and know how to rank sites (manually), only then automate if you want to scale up.

total rubbish mate.. it's how you use the tools.. you spam manually or with tools and you get penalised...

I've read a lot of guru advice and bought and trialed a lot of tools. Including SENukeX, traffic travis, market samuri, UBD, AMR etc. I've also used fiverr gigs.

When it comes down to it unless you understand how to build a backlinking strategy you will be wasting your money. You need to understand building a tiered approach and also how to mix and match in stuff like link wheels, video, docstoc etc. Just using the tools will not give you success.

That said I think that tools can help a lot. In particular scrapebox. Once you understand how to use it it can be very powerful in finding sites that are in your niche.

My strategy is simple:

Use Traffic Travis to find out the competitor backlinks to find out whether a keyword will work
Build a list showing hard to easy keywords to win.
Pick 3 keywords, 1 hard and 2 easy
Use fiverr to get open linkwheels built for each of the keywords all pointing to the money site - Build web 2.0 sites with at least 3 pages preferably 5 to 10 and then have them link randomly to each other and the money site.
Use fiverr to get stuff posted on YouTube, SlideShare, Docstoc and Scribd again to the money site
Now get someone to run an senukex campaign on each of the web 2.0 sites, again fiverr will do this.

To do this you need 3 fully sup articles at 70%+ uniquness

If you do 6 linkwheels at $5 = $30
then add in the posting another $5 to $10
NukeX compaign for each link wheel $6 x $5 = $30

$70 in total

Run it over a month and see the difference!
