I need a broken external link tool that shows the URL the broken link is on? Xenu not cutting it?

Hi all,

I have an internet forum with about 29,000 indexed pages.....over 60,000 total.

I'm going to have someone clean up all the broken external links on my website, there's hundreds that I can see by using the Xenu broken link tool. I figure it's good for SEO, and also in general improves the user experience.

While the Xenu tool is great for telling you all of the broken links on your site, in the report it produces, it's not telling me is where on my forum the links are located.....just the URL of the bad link itself.

Yes I can go through and right click bad external link individually and it tells me where it is located on my forum, but that takes forever. I want to be able to see both pieces of info in one report.

I want to be able to hand a downloadable/exportable report or spreadsheet to an outsourced worker of mine and say here's the list, go at it.

Either I'm using Xenu wrong and it can show both pieces of information on the report, please someone let me know.

But in the mean time, is anyone here aware of a broken link checker that will tell you both the bad link URL and the specific webpage on my site the bad URL is on?

Thanks in advance!

    • I have not tried this one; however when I just tried it their servers are down so their link validator does not work.

Does anyone else have a suggestion?
    • This one is even worse than Xenu. The first issue is that it has the same problem Xenu has in that I want to be able to see on one report without having to click additional links two things.

      1. The broken link URL
      2. The webpage of my site that bad URL

You have to click a link for each individual bad link to see where it's at.

The second issue is that it has a 3000 page limit. My website has 60,000 pages.

I'm going to need something else.

  • Xenu is awful... I see why you have issues with it. Its worthless as far as I am concerned (at least the version I have).

    • It's not bad for a blog, but for an established forum, no way. My site had almost 700,000 links on it, it took the report 6 hours to run, and hogged about 1.5GB of resources when running the report, and then the results get brought up in an internet explorer window which hogged almost another gig of resources on its own. Better have a powerful computer to run this report and view the results.

On a side note, I was able to get what I needed, but it took a lot of manipulation. For a free tool I shouldn't complain too much I guess.
