How many of you use AdSense banners?

I have this gut feeling that banner ads are useless for making money from AdSense.
Text ads look like the only way to go.

Does anybody here use any banner ads on their sites or are they a complete and total no-no?

  • Depending on the niche and banner placement.

Text Ads are working the best for me and my partners so far. I suggest you to go for these at first and fit them in your website's theme as nicely as possible.
  • Text is the way to go for most sites. However, for some sites selecting "text and image ads" when creating your ads, will work better.

I never heard anyone reporting better results with banners... I did try them myself, but they didn't work for me.

However, without testing them yourself on your own site, you will never know.
  • Yeah I usually use 1 with 2 text link ads. Definitely not a no-no.
  • It entirely depends on your site design and niche. Some sites work well with text ads while other with image/rich media ads.

    • I would think graphical banner ads would work best. #1, they probably pay more. #2, probably have a higher click through rate since they are more noticeable and look better.

Does anyone have evidence that says otherwise?
  • On some of my sites i have it 50-50

    • How do the banners do against the text ads?
  • Banned
I think it all depends on the niche.

If it was a site/niche for kids I think banner images would have a higher CTR than Text Ads.

I've tested on my own sites plenty of times & always get a higher CTR/earnings with text Ads, in the hobby niche. Like I said, I think it just depends on the type of traffic your site gets.
  • Whether you are talking Adsense banners or any other type of banners, in most cases (obviously depends on the style of site and niche), text ads will always have a higher CLR.
