GWT geo targeting is good enough. For the rest, you have to talk about Malaysia in your site and build links from Malaysian sites. Google mostly relies on linking anyway.

Google relies on a lot of factors but geo-targetting is one of the best ways to make sure Google knows you'd like to target users of a particular region.

yes it will do the job, in next few weeks your site will start ranking high in google malaysia and you will see malaysia next to your url if you search your site name in google.co.uk or google.com.au

  • If you want to rank in Local Search Engine say Google.com.my You need to get links from Local Web Directories, Forums and Blogs that would do the job =)

Google created the geo targeting tool to help webmasters point a particular country/region their websites are targeting. With that in mind, Google will be able to retrieve more accurate natural search results for a specific geographical area.

I have a .com domains which 90% of the traffic comes from India google.co.in and I wanted it traffic to target to US. I see that after targeting US, I get 50% of the traffic comes from India. Which means I am geting traffic from US too. I see that by doing it, my site is well ranked at google.com and it goes to any other countries who use google.com not countries extentions.
