How do I fix this problem with google display

My blog shows up on spot 15 to 19 of google for my key word which is competitive so I'm happy with that. The problem is the display in google is wrong.

I'm using all in one SEO for a blog and the display title on google is the home title in all in one SEO which is correct and good.

The problem is the display body in google IS NOT home description in all in one SEO, it is the description of the last post on the blog.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that I have a setting wrong on all in one SEO but I can't work out what. Could some one please please please tell me how to change the body displayed in google from the most recent article description to the blog description.

The settings I have in all in one SEO are

canononical urls - no
rewrite titles - yes

post title-%blog_title% | %post_title%
page title-%page_title% | %blog_title%
category title- %category_title% | %blog_title%
archive title-%date% | %blog_title%
tag title-%tag% | %blog_title%
search title-%search% | %blog_title%
description -%description%
404 -Nothing found for %request_words%
page- - Part %page%

  • Is autogenerate descriptions checked? If so, try unchecking it and see what happens.

Also on a side note, I'd remove %blog_title% from the titles you posted (post, page, category). It's unnecessary to have them, unless of course you're branding or something. Otherwise the titles themselves are sufficient.

    • Hi iMmindset, thank you for your reply.

No, autogenerate descriptions is not checked so the problem must be some where else

  • I thought of that but have not changed all in one SEO settings for a long time. So the problem is some where else. Where?? hoping some one can tell me.
  • It is not bad . Google may show keywords form anywhere of you blog

    • When the google display is meant to introduce the site/blog and instead introduces a particular post, it is VERY bad and will cost a lot of traffic.
  • Can anyone tell me how to use All in One SEO to display the blog description not an article description???
  • Hmm, if you want your custom description displayed for your home page, ALL you have to do is make sure All in One is Enabled, and fill in the Home Description field in the settings - that's it. If you have done that then I can't imagine what you are doing wrong. But you do know that Google is not OBLIGED to show your custom description - it would be a little unusual in my experience, but it may not be impossible that Google decided your current blog post is more interesting...
  • Aha - are you talking about your China Travel site? (nice site, nice rankings too )

If so, your meta description is too short:

    Code:
    <meta name="description" content="Travel In China" />
Google won't show such a short meta desc probably - you have to write a longer one. I am pretty sure that is your problem.

    • Hi Markowe, brilliant, looks like that is exactly what the problem was. All in one SEO does not have the function (not that I could see) to set meta description so I had to use the blog theme option to set it. Just checked the sites source code and the metadescription has now been changed.

I'll know for sure when google search results are updated.

Thank you for your help, appreciate it.

With rankings, I'm on the bottom of page two. Ok I guess but working on improving that.
