Blogger earns more money with adsense than Wordpress?!

I recently switch my free Blogger Blog to a self hosted Wordpress site and did all the necessary steps to import posts and 301 Redirect my old blog to the new domain.

However, when I placed my adsense ads in the same positions with relatively the same content my CPC went down from an average $1.75 to 34 cents! That is a 514% decrease in revenue.

Is this because Google favors Blogger Blogs (since they own them) or because I went to a brand new Wordpress site?

Has this happened to any of you guys

I have blogger bogs & self hosted WP sites, most in the same niche.

I would suggest to not 301 redirect the blogger, that will give you a chance to earn $$ from both sites. You can move traffic with links on blogger pointing at your self hosted sites.

Share the traffic with both of your sites...

I thought about that Yukon bought won't I have to start my SEO efforts all over again? I am also a little worried about having duplicate content from both sites.

Thanks for the suggestion I will think about this one.

I see only 23 pages in your Archive for the site in your forum sig.

Why not rewrite those articles for whichever site (blogger or WP) isn't ranking best in the SERPs? That will get you unique content + 100% relevant backlinks from the blogger site to help seo & send traffic to your WP site.

One of the most important things is to have 100% unique page titles & URLs for every single page.

If it was my sites I would do this:

      1) Stop the redirect from blogger
      2) Create new pages for the WP site
      3) Create one way links on relevant blogger pages that point to your new WP pages (needs to be relevant unique page titles/URLs).

Use the one-way links on blogger for any existing traffic + seo (keyword anchor-text).

The themes can both look the same, just have unique content.

You're absolutley making a ton of sense Yukon! Why try to fix what wasn't broken. Looks like I will be doing some editing/article rewriting tonight.

        Thanks for the input.

You are putting ads on a completely different site. Google takes
time to put more relevant ads...and the site has no history to
      warrant anyone bidding or targeting.

But how you did a 301 on a free blogspot blog somehow escapes me.

If you used a javascript/meta refesh, just remove that. Those are not
      301 redirects.

You should have done one last post, with a link to the new blog.
And not imported anything. It is starting over, but so is the import
in reality. You are just "starting over" with some content as a jump start.

I see, I was just a little confused because about half of the ads were the same from both sites but still recieved different CPC's.

Just as I thought. They do not 301 the blogspot blog. You can't.
Blogger.com doesn't provide you with the facility to 301 redirect people and robots to any other site.
They use a different method than what I thought of to redirect a visitor.
          rel=canonical
It still uses a meta refresh. Just remove the code.

Thats a natural thing man.You cant expect that every time you will make more than that.It entirely depends on traffic and its quality and number of clicks on that day.
