Basic question about pinging

After you publish a new blog post, do you ping the blog post URL or just the domain?

  • If you want to promote the blog post, ping the url. If you want to promote the whole site in general, ping the domain

    Pinging just fakes traffic from a site to yours so it will show up higher in the rankings. So if you want to make a particular blog post more popular, then yeh ping the url

    • I would personally ping the blog itself after every new submission. It would lend more weight and juice toward your domain, instead of just boosting a post within the blog, unless of course you are targeting a specific keyword or phrase within the new post.

      Also, you can ping your pages RSS feed as well. Every bit of juice helps
