I want to update my Xml sitmap every month is that fine .some one told me google can penalize your site its true or not

    what kind of idea is that?

    Having a sitemap is a good idea if you have a lot of pages, it helps google find them all. But they won't penalize you because you don't update it every month...

      to add another, split them up....

      If google needs a sitemap to crawl your site, then your site structure is
      flawed. Google does not need help. But if they did, then what does that
      say about your site? That the stuff is hidden from visitors? Not a very
      good way to treat them. Or publish content.

      Take a look at the warriorforum. No sitemap. These threads are crawled
      and indexed within seconds.

  • Site map makes easy to locate your all pages for a spider. So there is harm to update it. So be patience there is need not to worry. All the best!!!
  • Google doesn't penalize you for not having sitemap or not updating it; but google does penalize you if you submit your sitemap to google again and again.

    in fact the xml sitemap is automatically updated once you submit it via google webmaster tools.
  • If you have made changes in your sitemap then it is adviceable to submit the same to google. But if the sitemap has not undergone any changes, then threre is no need of it.
  • Updating the sitemap is a nice idea. It's not really necessary to resubmit it, as Google will retrieve it automatically after a short time.It is a better idea to update the sitemap when you have new URLs and also when you change content of old URLs.
  • Bull****, google will never penalize if you not gonna update the xml sitemap. Don't listen those dummy seo specialist.
  • If not possible to update your XML sitemap each time you add new URLs, then it may still be a good idea to automate/schedule sitemapper to run e.g. once every week or month. (Butt no, as others said, you won't be penalized for not doing so!)
  • have never heard that you will get penalized..I do not see a logical explanation why they would do it
