Ranking for Bookmarking sites

Is it possible to get decent ranking or any PR for a bookmarking site?

I have several and I put a variety of links on it, while making sure that there is no viagra or any other unrelated links, but I have a PR0.

Since it's not like I can put a lot of content on it, exactly, how can I increase my PR? Just add more links to it from other sites?

That wasn't what I asked, but thank you.

I didn't ask how I can get PR from only using social bookmarking. I started my own social bookmarking site and I want to get some PR for it.

My question was more about whether google will give much ranking to social bookmarking sites? I upgraded the look of it and went form a PR n/a to a PR0, so I guess that's something.

Is it basically the same, as far as just getting links to it? Obviously, if I can get my bookmarking site to rank, then the bookmarks ON it will be worth a little more.

I'm just trying to hit this thing from as many angles as possible.

My main site, as of today, has: Total links : 626,763, according to google, but since my ranking doesn't seem to be going up, I know I need to make more of them count. And several thousand of those links come from my own bookmarking sites, so I'm just trying to make those links worth a bit more.

Oh, and btw, I just signed up with John Moore, from this forum, for high ranking backlinks. So far, I'm pleased with his service, but since it was just done over the weekend, I don't know how well it'll work. I'll definitely be posting about it as I see results.

Well, he was the only one who offered to look at my site and give me feedback, so that made me consider him immediately. He has responded in a timely fashion to my emails and has already sent out a press release on my behalf. I've seen one posted so far, but I expect more to come. And he found one funky link on my site, which I fixed.

I sent him some information on my services and he said he has started to drip them into his network. This has been since Saturday.

So, assuming that the rest of his work is as good as what I've seen so far, I'm expecting good results.

So, back to the original question, is there any way to get ranking for bookmarking sites?

I've posted some of the sites in my blogs as backlinks, but I don't know if there's anything else that I can do. Since it's not so much about content in the same way as regular sites, is there any way to get some real ranking for bookmarking sites?

There are lots of decent high ranking bookmarking site of course yes but right now most bookmarking sites just come and go sometimes in park mode maybe there is no money in it and is deteriorating most of them the page ranks are slowly disappearing.

There are lot of ways to do backlinking... BUT you cant just do 1 of them! you have to do forums, videos, forums, blog etc... I know it involves a lot of work. No Pain No gain right?

You can not get high PR through only social bookmarking. For getting high PR we also need to work on forums, blogs, directories and articles submission.

I did not say I was trying to rank a page solely through social bookmarking. Obviously, other things need to be done and I'm doing those things.

This question is for someone who is RUNNING a social bookmarking site, which I am and I want to get the bookmarking site ITSELF ranked. It's not like I can create a ton of fresh new content and well-written material because it's a bookmarking site.

This is what I'm asking. Does anyone have a social bookmarking site that they have gotten any rank for? I went from a PR n/a to a PR0, so that's something, but I'd like to get it to be a PR1 or 2. Any suggestions? I've bookmarked my site at other social bookmarking sites and I've started adding it into some blog postings, but I really can't so much in the way of SEO on the site itself...or can I?

Lol how people are missing the question. I get what you are saying. I don't personally have a bookmarking site. However I am trying to increase my PR. Hear me out because im trying to answer your question: All research says is to get high PR you need high pr links linked to your site. So I don't think it matters that your site is a bookmarking site. I think you just need to work on getting high PR pages pointed back to your site. PR doesn't care if you are a shop, bookmarking site, blog etc. Now I've been trying to increase PR. I strongly believe age of a site is a factor also although I know some people on here who can get a new site to a PR of 2 or 4. Have no idea how. They must have a blog network. Also traffic affects PR.

My friend has a PR 4 blog. She opened up a new site linked to it and it is now a PR 2 or 3. All from her site link juice. And traffic. I realize this doesn't answer your specific question about the success Of bookmarking sites getting PR but just wanted too add my own thoughts.

Oh, I get your point, though I am not a social bookmarking site owner, I think it's a good idea if you will get your bookmarking site listed in some bookmarking site lists websites. Because as you will notice, there are social bookmarking sites having a good PR like slashdot, digg, etc. that are listed to some bookmarking site lists. In this way, you can get inbound links from other websites.

That's what I have observed. Though it's up to you on how to do it. Getting decent ranking for your bookmarking site is not impossible.
