Boosting Other Sites to Help Main Site

I tend to think optimistically and plan for the future, so I wondered what you thought about this.

Once John helps me get my website into at least the #3 position, would it be better to get another bunch of high-powered links to, hopefully, push my way into the #1 spot with that website OR get the bunch of high-powered links to my second best-ranking site and get it better ranked, thus making all the links on it worth more? (It currently has a PR2 and about 120k lesser quality links)

The competition has several sites that they have pushed up in ranking and it seems to have been a good idea. I've got a number of domains, all of which are at least 6 or 7 years old, that I have recently put sites on to see if I can't give them some boost. What are you thoughts/feelings/ideas about this?

Which is money better spent?

  • Really? Nobody has had this come up as an issue or question?
  • The really high quality links should go straight to the main site. I'd send mid quality links to the second site and use low-mid as a third tier.
  • I decided to outsource for some high PR links for both sites. The main site is already on page 1 for the choice phrase (#7), but the second site is nowhere near there. I did just re-do it a bit and optimize it more (but it needs more work), so I'm hoping the high PR links will increase its power.

I'm starting to add the second site link to my articles that I submit, as well as the main site, with the hopes of making more links that matter.
