In my experience, it's no harder to rank a .info than a .com.

I believe that .com is important for a brick and mortar type business because people just assume that's what a business's URL is going to end with.

However, if you're only interested in ranking the domain, you should be fine. I've had my .info domains rank #1 in Google in less than 48 hours for very specific and low competition keyword phrases.

For example, if I was creating a site to offer bonuses for a product that was being launched, I had no problem.

I agree with the above it is more perceived by the user that a .com is established but probably has little or no effect on your ability to rank.

A .com or .net domain are most preferred if you really want to move ahead. I once had this .net domain competing with a .com domain and at the end of the day a .com always showed just above my domain in Google.

And that was because their site and/or backlinks were better than yours, not because of a .com versus .net.

In my experience, I prefer to use .com, .net, and .org. However, I would say that nothing is impossible. I hope you have one hellova strong SEO plan to get that site to rank though. Making money is the most competitive niche.

    Best wishes,

It is impossible to rank a .info site. They were created and sold for amusement purposes only. You should delete your site and create a new .com. There has never been a .info site on the first page of Google.

LOL JOSH!!!!!!!!!!!! Had me going for a second....thought it was a serious post
      until I saw the name!!!!!

Anybody actually want to get a .info #1 for very common search,

search for pagerank checker or new york subways

See, NYC never got the memo about that .info thing.

Anybody wants a challenge of beating a dot info with any extension,
take on new york subways. Good luck with that one. Of course
that .info will never be beat unless the MTA changes extensions.
      and beats themselves.

100% false, flat out wrong. It doesn't benefit anyone when you provide such false information. .info domains rank just as well as any extension in the search engines. .com, net and .org are just for perceived value to users/people/companies. Search engines do not care.

Not only is .info fine, but so is .biz, .us, .cc or a hyphenated domain with your keyword!

There's no SEO difference and your sites will still rank and people will still click on them. Some IM myths just won't die!
