Hi There,

I am wondering to know which one play more important rule when it comes to SERP, number or quality of backlinks?

Thank you
#search engine optimization #backlinks #quality #quantity
  • Both my friend
  • Yes both, obviosuly I'd go for more quality backlinks to build a positive repuation with google and then eventually move onto getting more and more backlinks. But, make sure to never forgot to build quality also.

    overall... Quality>Quanity
  • always go for the quality first...that is why you see people are paying so much just to get high PR backlinks...

  • Quality first, it is said that one quality and important link equals to hundred of useless links,,,, but do both if possible!

  • Mazdak, no one really knows for sure. But, most people say 1 quality backlink is much better than 10 low quality ones.

    I personally follow this rule:
Focus on quality backlinks, but, if you can get lots of low quality backlinks without spending too much time (or money, in some cases), then by all means do so.

Its always good to have a mixed variety of backlinks.

Either way, I dont think you would have much hard time at ranking well (you already have a PR5) for your keywords, since your niche is a small (but very targeted and marketable niche since immigration to Canada is a very well-known and sought after thing with Iranians) niche. Good luck.
  • I would say quality over quantity. A backlink is no good if its in a bad place.

    • Both Quality and quantity of Backlinks. The more backlinks you have even thought they are not quality but have many traffic on it, the same with the quality of your backlinks.
  • IMHO, Both are important. However, both play a different role according to my experiences.

-quality backlinks - mostly these links will let you rank in SERP.
-quantity backlinks - these links will let your site gain PR.

However, this is just an assumption, but combining both will surely benefits you.
  • Focus on the quality buddy!
  • Quality and relevance - If possible try to get your backlinks coming from sites/categories that are also relevant to the content on your site.

It's all very well having a link from an .edu or PR6 domain, but if you were Google and saw a link from a domain or thread centered on quantum physics that lead to a site selling car parts would you give it much credit as a naturally occurring link?

  • It's all about quality these days, i'll take 1 link on a page with actual page rank over 1,000 pr0 links anyday.
  • But the thing is why we can see some websites with lower PR have better SERP?

    • How long are they staying at that position for?

Anyone can get on the first page, but staying there consistently is a whole different kettle of fish.
  • I think quality over quantity.
    Google thinks this aswell.
There's no point in blasting back links through website with no relevance to your niche.
  • Focus on getting high-quality links from high-quality websites. Guest posting is still an excellent way to generate high-quality incoming links. If possible, try to wrap links in important keywords.
    Quality first...then quantity...
  • I will go with Quality Links. I will prefer to get them from high pr relevant sites or blogs. Also a contextual link from a high pr site which must be dofollow is a real boost for ranking.
  • Always give quality the priority. 10 backlinks of PR 5 or more will have more effect than 100 PR 0 backlinks.
  • My question has not been answered, why though I have the best PR among my competitors, why I did not gave the first SERP?

    Thank you

    • PageRank is largely independent of the rankings. It is a factor, but the highest PR is not equal to the highest rankings.

Anchor text and link quality for that anchor text play a role. Link age. Domain age. On page optimization. All of these things play a factor.

If they are outranking you it is because their site and/or backlinks are better than yours.
  • Quality of course.
  • Both of them but a high-PR backlink carries more weight than low-pr links.
  • I go for quality actual page high pr backlinks

  • Quality backlinks are more important than quantity backlinks.
  • I think that in the case of attention to ensure the quality of quantity. Quality is the key.
  • Quality is more important than quantity but if you make sure to concern yourself with quality first and create a quantity of quality links you are onto a winning strategy!!
  • I have a question regarding this topic: is a high PR non-contextual link better than a low PR contextual link?

  • So how come when I have better PR than all my competitors, I still have lower SERP?
  • I think Quality over Quantity but it is easier said than done. I try to get a mixture of both.
  • The truth is, nobody even knows what Google will see as a quality back link these days. Social signals are more important, surely more effective than spam blog comments. If you're serious, spend your time getting what you think Google would consider an authority link, which doesn't mean any spam link from a .edu site. It means a link from the home page of a relevant site, which is ranked well in Google.
  • Guys! the SEO game has been changed now from quantity to QUALITY. So, get higher rankings in search engines you need to get quality authority one way links then you will be able to achieve high rankings.
  • Quality/type
  • Quality always trumps quantity, but make sure that your quality definition lines up with Googles definition.

Quality are links from highly trusted, high PageRank domains & subsequent pages. That's the single most important factor in "quality" backlinks.

Taking it a step further, try and get contextually relevant backlinks if possible as well. That will help from a readership standpoint and could potentially lead into naturally built backlinks from other sources that are citing the original "post/article" that your link was found in.
  • Both quality and quantity are important. But quality can bring you long term revenue, while quantity can only bring you short term revenue. I prefer quality.
  • I would go for both of them. It does not matter, and a mixed quality of backlinks looks more natural.
  • I will always go with the backlinks quality.
  • I would go with quality everytime, as the search engines have always stressed quality as opposed to filling up the web with duplicates
  • Quality and quantity both matter for ranking but quality matters more than quantity

I also agreed that quality is the major thing. As not as per new algorithm google will first consider the site which has quality information. So by providing best and meaningful information on quality sites one can get quality backlinks.
  • Put it this way, one quality link from BBC.CO.UK let's say is worth 1000 low quality links from forum profiles for example.

Low quality links are arguably worth nothing after the Google Panda update.

So if you are looking for a link building provider choose one that builds quality content only written in your native language. There are big problems with using foreign article writers.
  • How can Link Building done for a Big Corporate site like Amazon, ebay? please give me some ideas.
  • The quality of backlinks you are creating is much to be considered, but you should also be consistent in the quantity or number of links you are producing.
  • both are helpful in seo
  • My word of advice would be to grab as many as you can. Quality links, links from low-PR sites - in the end they are all links. dont forget that. But if you have a choice it would be Quality>Quantity.

  • The quality of the copy of this association appears to be more important than quantity. Let's say you get thousands of poor quality back-links, especially the profile of back-links, the links do not have the kind of impact you expect them to have. On the other hand, if you get high quality back-links, back links or sites that are relevant to your website that can give your site a huge boost as classification is concerned.
  • quality...baclinks from .edu are best...also from blog comments , article submissions ( Squidoo lenses , hub pages , wikihow articles etc)

    • Quality over quantity but both ideally and I've just learned this the hard way
  • Quality, there is no substitute for a quality back links. You can do a number of low quality back links but with its poor quality, probably the ratio to that is 1 good quality is equal to 15 poor quality back links. Quantity should be incorporated with the quality of back links, that is why it is better if you can do both. Back links with good quality and at the same time, has the quantity can be more productive than poor quality back links and low in quantity.
Just focus on the quality since they are highly trusted and with a number of top quality back links, you can do both the quality and quantity at the same time.

  • Quantity of Quality links to get higher and long term SERPs.
  • google change its searching algorithm these days. Now, you had better choose some high quality back links.
